Not so much MAGA as MGA (Make Greenland American). Far-sighted philanthropy or deranged self-indulgence?

Neither far-sighted philanthropy nor deranged self-indulgence. If any deal is reached, it'll be because of self-interest...on the part of both the US and Denmark.

Whether there is a deal or not depends on what each of the parties determine is in their self-interest.

There's not going to be a deal. Denmark isn't interested and congress wouldn't approve.

You never know...

Yeah...we do...

Maybe Trump will make an attempt on buying the moon next.

I know there's no point at which you'll admit he's off the rails, but...he's off the rails...if he was ever on them...

There is no deal.

There are no negotiations.

Someone on Trump’s staff made some comment about Greenland, and the moron in chief took it seriously.

It’s more of the deranged self indulgence of the man child.

He invited himself to Denmark. Then this story about buying Greenland gets out.

Trump looks like the utter fool that he is.

And Trump tries to take it out on the Danes by cancelling a state visit that he himself invited himself to.

It’s rude, to say the very least. And it is representative of the type of chavanistic arrogance that is so typical of both Trump and his dwindling far right wing base.

Earth is not a planet that revolves around the United States. That might come as a revaluation to Trump and the fans who still support him. But it’s a fact.

It's not like Denmark doesn't have a history of land sales.

On 17 January 1917, according to the Treaty of the Danish West Indies, the Danish government sold the islands to the United States for $25 million ($489 million in current prices), when the United States and Denmark exchanged their respective treaty ratifications.

I am not at all sure President Trump is serious about buying Greenland--from what I'm reading the Greenlanders are getting a kick out of it and treating it as a good natured joke. I suspect he may be artfully poking sticks at or pulling chains of the deranged, dishonest, TDS afflicted media and Democrats etc. to get them to go sputtering off the rails. He is a master at doing that.

Then again, Greenland has billions of natural resources that are unexploited because of the frigid conditions there, but in another ten years, such a purchase could prove to be a brilliant investment. So who knows?

You've been listening to fake news again, haven't you?

Following the invitation of Her Majesty the Queen, US President His Excellency Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump make state visits to Denmark on 2-3 March. September 2019.

USA's praesident pa besog i Danmark | Kongehuset

No deal.

The Prez. has subsequently decided to be miffed and, offinahuff, has cancelled his scheduled visit to Denmark.

Denmark's PM having called the whole discussion absurd was probably not a highlight of diplomatic language, seeing how it gives room to feel the adjective is applied to oneself.

Meanwhile the Danes are split into those always having considered the Prez. to be a nut anyway (thus simply shrugging him off) and those incensed at his cancellation of visit, considered to be an insult to the Queen who had formally extended the invitation that was accepted.

I guess a sale over 100 years ago is relevant. LOL!

Not just Greenland but the offshore boundaries too. The Russians have been busy staking claims due to possible oil reserves under the ice.

Clearly YOU don't.

And if you have admiration for a Head of State indulging him- or herself in diplomatic gaffes, just so as to yank domestic chains, you're clearly well placed (geographically speaking) where you are.

Whether that makes your accusations of derangement and dishonesty fall back on you personally, is a matter for others to decide for themselves.

That you are clearly ignorant on Denmark and its inner workings has, however, found ample demonstration now.

Meanwhile rumors that post Brexit UK is offering to buy Hong Kong back from China, remain as yet unfounded. :lamo

I quite enjoyed being in Hong Kong before the transition. Fun British pubs and all around nice people there.

I am sad they are now suffering under the pressures from red china.

Yeah, me too.

I haven't been since before 1997 so have no personal experience on what it became like (however autonomous) under Chinese rule.

I also immensely enjoyed my stays there, nevertheless.

We are the world party will not want to deal. A guess.

Anyone want to buy Italy since were on the subject?

Won’t actually cost you anything you just have to guarantee the debt.

Well of course you are far more reasoned, articulate, accurate, logical, reasonable, educated, unprejudiced, and non partisan than I am. All we have to do to know that is ask you.
