Tommy Robinson has been given a nine-month prison sentence – of which he will serve about 10 weeks – after he was found guilty of contempt of court at an earlier hearing. Robinson, 36, from Luton in Bedfordshire, had denied breaching a reporting ban by livestreaming footage of defendants arriving at court. He insisted he had only referred to information already in the public domain.

Robinson flashed a V for victory sign to the public gallery upon hearing the sentence, and later winked as he slung a bag over his shoulder and was led away by prison officers.

Tommy Robinson given nine-month jail sentence for contempt of court | UK news | The Guardian

Sending Robinson into shark infested waters in prison for the crime of giving the British public a glimpse of serial rapist's faces is apparently not compromising a journalist's safety. The irony meter has exploded from overuse, as Culture Secretary Jeremy Wright announced the UK will establish a National Committee for the Safety of Journalists! Try not to laugh at the absolute ridiculousness of the Culture Sec's announcement, as Julian Assange languishes in a prison cell, and Tommy Robinson will now spend several months trying not to be murdered by Muslims in a British prison!

UK to establish national committee on journalist safety

If he didn't want to go to jail, he shouldn't have broken the law.

You're defending a repeat offender? Surely you should be crying for him to be deported or something.

The funny part is, is that he actually didn't break the law.

This just goes to show you how authoritarian the UK has become over the last decade.

Trump should launch military action to liberate the UK.

Unlike the countries in the middle east that we've tried to bring "democracy" too, Britain actually has been a free country, which means it may be possible to re-establish liberty in it.

Him trying to order that would be a great way to get Trump thrown out of office, I’ll give you that.

The military wouldn’t obey such an idiotic order even if Trump was stupid enough to try it.

Your system is designed to protect child rapists now. Deal with the fallout. There's a current sitting MP who tried to legalize pedophilia as well. Real Brits need to take the trash out.

It's not the old days spud. Britain doesn't send their criminals to Australia anymore. He can't be deported.

Actually a court of law has found him guilty of contempt of court, so he did break the law.

Except that his nothing to do with liberating, that would have everything to do with occupation and violating the state rights of the UK.

The really stupid thing is that you propose this because of that violent piece of scum Lennon breaking the law :lamo

You conservatives crack me up, you really do, you live so far out of reality that you only believe the extreme right news that has little or nothing to do with the truth.

And the UK IS a free country, so pretty sure there is no need to re-establish liberty in it, especially not the insane right wing version of liberty (which is liberty if you agree with us, no liberty if you disagree with us).

Lennon is getting his right punishment, he thinks he is above the law, the court of law just proved he is not.

You are clueless as always, the system is to ensure a fair trial to any suspect, as suspects are innocent until proven guilty. Not guilty until proven innocent. That that thug Lennon loves creating a lynching mood is bad enough, him interfering in the fair prosecution of suspects is unacceptable and he needs to be punished for it.

And real Brits should indeed take the trash out, Lennon first one to be kicked out. Sadly Europe will not have him so maybe he can come and break the law in the US?

Well, he was when he illegally entered the US.

Sadly for some he cannot be kicked out of the UK, nobody would want him. Well, no self respecting country, but maybe he can spend some time in Brazil, or some other right wing semi dictatorial leader who has no problem with idiots like Lennon.

Are you too busy dreaming about Oswald Moseley and Enoch Powell to actually look at why Robinson ended up being sentenced? I bet the irony of the claim on his t-shirt and he ensuing scenes where his supporters attacked journalists outside Parliament is completely lost on you.

Actually a court of law has found him guilty of contempt of court, so he did break the law.

So do you know what he did to break it?

Because a contempt of court charge has to be defined and I can bet you that he didn't actually do it. Because this has already happened to him before.

He's most likely going to end up in solitary confinement for his whole sentence. Just to keep the other inmates off of him.

He broke the law, and he probably wouldn't have gone to jail if his form sheet wasn't a long as his arm.

People seem to be under the impression that this guy is squeaky clean and idolise him as some kind of saviour.

The real laughable irony here is that if there were any politicians currently in power with a charge sheet likes Tommy's - you can guarantee these very same people would be screaming for their resignation.

c.2005: assault - 12 months' prison
c.2011: threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour - 12 months' rehab, 150 hours' labour, 3-year football ban
c.2011: common assault - 12 weeks' prison susp. 12 months
c.2013: possession of a false identity document with improper intention - 10 months' prison
c.2013: 2 counts mortgage fraud - 18 months' prison
2017: contempt of court - 3 months' prison, susp. 18 months

If he doesn't want to get locked up, he shouldn't break the law. The guy is a thug, a criminal and a moron. Deserves longer.

So, then if he's in solitary, it's because he's angered too many people, and if he's in solitary, then his baby crying of "they're going to kill me" isn't going to happen AGAIN.

And getting done for the same offense twice, I mean, that's real stupid. He should move to Mississippi, they love that kind of stupid down there.

So you're not only ignoring the fact that it's illegal in the UK to secretly make recordings in court rooms, you're arguing that anyone should be able to record and then broadcast any court proceeding they choose, lest they're supporting rapists? Jesus you guys are pathetic.

Well, that this would have you twisting your own brown shirt in howling frustration is really as little a surprise as that not spouting off in your usual racist White Supremacist manner every day, clearly causes you enormous discomfort.

What's really hard here is not to laugh at your pathetic rants over places in the world that you have never seen, never will and that you know nothing about.

But with having gotten your fascist BS off your chest now, you can rest a bit again

Oh Soldier of Odin

The funny part of your post is how you demonstrate utter ignorance on the issue.

Come and visit if you're man enough and see how we do precisely that.:lamo

So, a man who just calmly asks a question, get charged of contempt of court. Whereas a woman who, in the same position he occupied from when he supposedly broke this law. Is allowed to berate him as though he had committed some egregious crime, and nothing be done to her?

This doesn't even cover the fact that the first time he was sentenced to this. That he still did no such thing. As the court cases verdict had already been made public and he was just asking simple questions. Not leading, not trying to insult, or enflame those he was talking to, or about...

Yeah, I'll believe the UK is free from judicial corruption. When it actually begins to act as though it were free of it.

Yes, keep showing how little you know about what's happened in this case.

We'll wait.

I join other members (and guests) in expressing best wishes to Mr. Robinson.

Hopefully, his lawyers can do something to make sure that he is not beaten up or raped in that prison.

What has happened to England in the last several decades is very sad. Maybe the new prime minister can do something to improve the situation.
