two more IS brides stripped of citizenship

Yes and are they not innocent till proven guilty?

Clearly not.

The UK and US have carried out extra judicial killings of their own citizens.

Yes and are they not innocent till proven guilty?

They went to live in the caliphate 5 years ago. Case closed I'm afraid.

Also, did they marry IS fighters or not? Were these IS fighters directly linked to beheadings of western hostages or not? I'm struggling to see the "innocent."

Do they have citizenship elsewhere? I do think it should be against international law to leave someone "stateless". And that has nothing to do with what I think they deserve. It is just that stateless people create a logistical nightmare.

I would say yes - in the case of Begum, she can get Bangladeshi citizenship easily and the two Pakistani-origin girls probably have dual nationality. Dual nationals tend to be the ones that lose citizenship however they could always appeal to al Baghdadi for citizenship of the IS caliphate wherever that is now.

So when Brits move to Spain and have to return to the UK because they have become too frail and need care.. then the UK can just dump them by revoking their citizenship because now they suddenly have become a burden for the state?

And again proven guilty is a basic principle of law. So if these guys or girls were involved in killing Brits or whatever and that is illegal according to UK law, then put them on trial and convict them. It is a basic principle of any civilized nation.

You're equating treason and pledging allegiance to an enemy state with growing old and needing healthcare?

So how would we get the evidence for any such case? We've been over this when these people first went over to Syria. The mistake all western Govt's made was 1) not stripping citizenship then and 2) saving the cost of a drone missile or two.

That's what I would have done in the Govt's place.
