A small group of MPs look set to announce their resignations from Labour, senior party sources have said.

At least four backbenchers who disagree with the Labour leadership over its handling of Brexit and anti-Semitism are thought likely to break away. They are expected to announce their departure at an event later on Monday morning. Link.

Sounds like the "Gang of Four' all over again however there are members within the Conservative party who see Rees Mogg's ERG as a party within a party and they are worried over the direction of the extreme hard Brexit people.

Could we see a cross-party coalition in the centre? Moderate Conservatives and right wing Labour MPs who might find common ground? Personally, I think unless there is a split within the Conservatives - the simple weight of party funding and the FPTP system we have here (First Past The Post) the four will either have to cross to another party or slowly go into decline.

Interesting times.

The fallout from Brexit seems to be never ending.

The real question is if anyone from the Tories will join them... now that would be significant.

Rump Blairites, elected on a Corbyn manifesto, calling for an EU referendum .......... don't want to face their own constituents by calling a by-election.

Who'd have thought ........

And what will you then say if any Conservatives join them?

Following the decision of seven Labour MPs to walk out on Monday, colleagues expressed anger with the leadership during a "tense" meeting in Parliament.

Corbyn-critic Ian Austin said others would "think hard" about leaving unless it fixed its anti-Semitism problem.
The BBC has been told two Tory MPs are thinking about joining the ex-Labour MPs' independent group in Parliament. The BBC's political editor Laura Kuenssberg said a small number of Conservatives were considering their futures amid unhappiness over the government's Brexit policy. Link.

This could be a very interesting next 50 days as we get to Brexit date and the fallout afterwards. My suspicion will be any further MPs who withdraw from their political parties will all be Remain MPs. On this front - I think they are wrong, the referendum should be respected even knowing the economic disaster that is coming.

Wow.

First 7, now one more Labour MP early this morning and then (thanks Sven Karma) 3 Conservatives leave to join the independents.

That's more MPs than the DUP have in Parliament. I admire them doing this but even though I agree their ideals - the referendum result should be respected.

If so, then the referendum result from 75 should be respected too...

The "Independent Group" now stands at eight: five Labour have left their party and three Conservatives. All are desperate to deny the democratic vote to leave and to remain in the EU at any price.

The 'coming' economic disaster' is a figment of a massive disinformation exercise funded by Soros and other globalists. The UK can tradewith the EU on WTO terms - just like bout 150 other states.

Btw "the Independent Group" is a really absurd name for those who wish their country to remain a dependency of the corrupt, protectionist and grossly wasteful European Union.

This clearly shows a lack of knowledge about the whole situation.

The UK will be a 3rd country in WTO trade. That means all WTO members are required to place the maximum tariffs under WTO rules, on all products coming from the UK on day one.

The EU has either trade agreements or WTO agreed schedules on trade with all WTO countries. The UK has none of this and has to start from scratch.

I really think you need to look at those WTO terms and how it works again. If you are so confident, please tell me you're not one of the believers in article 24 of the WTO....

It was, it was given 43 years.

I actually think the 3rd referendum will be within the next 15 and that will be to rejoin sans rebate / outputs and all the other things we won in negotiation.

~ The UK has none of this and has to start from scratch ~

Didn't it take 18 years for Russia to agree a deal with the WTO?

I see.. so there is a time limit on referendums? ~

You know what I mean. The referendum happened in 75 and the UK remained a member - the result was allowed to happen. This time the referendum has happened and the result has not yet happened.

I'm all for the third referendum - but reversing the result or a third referendum now before we've even withdrawn will legitimise all the worst racists, xenophobes and tin-foil hat wearers.

These pathetic hypocrites, who all want to reverse the Brexit referendum, run scared of their own constituents and deny them a vote.

All of these hypocrites were elected on manifestos which pledged to respect the referendum result.

The Tory party in particular should be pleased to see the back of MPs who have repeatedly voted against the government on Brexit, who have sowed division in the party, who have betrayed their constituents, and who are pro business, pro austerity old fashioned arrogant paternalists.

Lol. Neither Lazrov nor Simonyan could have described the Kremlin Brexit position any better.

Do you apply the same statement to Jacob Rees-Mogg and his ERG for voting against the govt on various issues and threaten to do so again?

~ Lazrov ~

Lavrov?

ERG vote consistent with the manifesto pledge of leaving the EU, although they may disagree with aspects of policy on occasion.

It's not a fair comparison IC.
