When London teenager Shamima Begum fled Britain with two other schoolgirls in 2015 to join the Islamic State, it shocked a nation. Now, she wants to come home.

Begum, 19, is nine months pregnant and living in a Syrian refugee camp. She says she doesn’t regret leaving Britain but now wants to return to give birth to her child.

“Now all I want to do is come home to Britain,”

Sorry but the only way she gets back in is in a prison cell. Not only does she not regret leaving she also stated that seeing the beheaded victims of ISIS didn't faze her. Oh and her father was pictured at multiple Anjem Choudary rallies so I'm sure her young child would grow up to be an out standing citizen...

Hopefully she's stuck in Syria forever.

California will be glad to have her as long as she promises not to work.

~ her father was pictured at multiple Anjem Choudary rallies ~

The father actually took her to the American embassy protest rallies from the age of 12. Also present - Anjem Choudary and Michael Adebowale.

I've always stated my position we should not let these people back in - disappointed to hear the other day that nearly half of the British radicals who went to join ISIS have returned. These people should have never been allowed back.

There's no use in taking her back in, even if she has to serve a prison sentence.

A) knowing the UK, the prison sentence will likely be very short, &

B) there are probably just as many ISIS sympathizers in UK prisons as there are back in Syria.

She just wants the UK's nice, comfortable standard of living back in her life, and to collect welfare for her baby. She's had no change of heart.

She is damaged goods...I would not trust her as far as I could throw her...

Various media outlets are reporting that the UK may be considering stripping her of British citizenship and returning her to her home country of Bangladesh.

The UK fortunately has no consular staff in Syria, so assistance is certainly not forthcoming in the short term at least.

On the pretext of her probably having destroyed her UK passport as IS was prone to demand (alternatively the Home Office having cancelled it anyway, as they tend to do with "home" terrorists to complicate travel), she hopefully has no travel papers at all and is condemned to stay put.

But the baby (when and if born) poses a legal conundrum.

Seeing how the mother is a Brit and that citizenship is irrevocable unless she has gained another nationality, the UK has the obligation of wardship for the baby. As the at-home family will no doubt demand.

Damn it all.:2mad:

Shamima Begum is a British citizen born in Bethnal Green, London, and has a right to return to her country of birth. Her child, should it survive to birth, will be a British citizen too. If she finds her way back to the UK somehow, the U.K. has an obligation to accept her, whether they approve of her beliefs and ideology or not. If she has committed a crime, is prosecuted and found guilty then she can be punished for her actions but to strip a UK citizen for her ideology or her beliefs is a very dangerous precedent to set. How many radical trade unionists, Marxists, white supremacists or anarchists should have their citizenship stripped away from them because they hold unpopular beliefs? How many professional mercenaries who have fought against the interests of the U.K. for money have had their citizenship stripped from them in the past? Her foetus will be born a British citizen too, assuming it survives to birth, and the U.K. has a responsibility to see that the child is placed in safe hands if the child's mother is incarcerated or while she is deradicalise D and deprogrammed..

Cheers.

I've hardened my stance on situations such as this over the last few years.

She should not be allowed to come back.

Read this.

London schoolgirl who fled to join Isis wants to return to UK | World news | The Guardian

She said she has no regrets.

Beyond Evil. She made her bed, she can lay in it. She can seek help from the camps, just like all the other folks who are genuine refugees (which she is not) and actually likely had family members murdered by bastards like her husband that she still claims to love.

Wow, yes you certainly have. I wondered myself a couple of times when this subject first came up and she was a 15-16 year old but her interview in the camp is chilling. No regret whatsoever and highly likely to get straight into some horrible networks.

The fact security services would hopefully watch her and see who her links and acquaintances would be is the ONLY reason I could think we would let her back in.

I find it even more telling that she has already lost two children to either malnutrition or illness depending on the media source.....in such a case I would think regret would be a forgone conclusion; apparently not.

Same. She made her own bed.

Indeed. Chilling isn't it.

I do not know what will become of captured ISIS women in Syria. I do know that US/Kurd forces have hundreds of ISIS suspects in detention camps in far eastern Syria.

In Iraq they are deported if the home country will accept them back, but usually they are hanged.

As for foreign women who traveled to Iraq/Syria to join ISIS, I view them as willing participants in a terrorist organization/crimes against humanity.

imo she should not be allowed to return. Life is full of choices. She made some questionable ones against her country.

It's the no regrets stance that she holds that is too disturbing to ignore IC. I'm on the same page as you. I'd be somewhat sympathetic to a 15 year old who realised she had made a terrible mistake when she first arrived there and wanted to come back. I'm not sympathetic to someone who has voluntarily lived that life for years, claims to still love her husband and states she has no regrets despite losing two of her young children already.

Why are you even still here?
That's about the most ****ed up partisan hack post I can even begin to imagine, and California won't shed any tears when you see it in your rear view mirror. Congratulations for referring to California as home to ISIS lovers because: "no other reason than you have nothing to contribute", and no sound mind to do it with if you did.

We aren't the failures here in Cali, you're the failure because you can't make it here, and all you can do is blame everyone else for it.
Good riddance.

Never allowed back to ANY Western country whatsoever. They hate the West so much, let them enjoy their bitter rage outside the gates.

I don't know as I had a prior stance that was softened to where I ever felt compassion for such a miserable creature, male or female.
If you hate the West so much and feel no regret for levying war against it, stay out. We don't need you, we don't want you, and damned if we should be forced to pay the freight to accommodate you.
Tolerating the intolerant is a fool's errand, when said intolerance includes a love for a body count.

How many radical trade unionists, Marxists, white supremacists or anarchists should have their citizenship stripped away from them because they hold unpopular beliefs?

Far as I know, it's the white supremacists who hold a historically documented body count of dead blacks, Brits, Americans, Jews, and other innocent citizens far and wide. Again, tolerating the intolerant does no one any good.

So far no war against those groups have has ever been declared by trade unionists or anarchists.
Unpopular beliefs are beliefs. Attacks on an entire nation are the province of war.

Just because the UK has no provision to deal with those who denounce their citizenship doesn't mean that the UK doesn't have an obligation to protect its innocent subjects from enemy combatants who seek refuge as a wartime foothold, and it's rather obvious that Ms. Begum still holds her commitments dear. Let her do so at the pleasure of her new hosts.

Because i own my home and live well and I was born here before the democrats turned it into a third world rat hole. We are a state of walls. Walls to keep convicts in, walls to keep criminals in prison, and no walls where it will do the most good. What do you tell your grandkids when they see homeless misery as common as shrubbery, or are they always “eyes down” to prevent stepping on a turd or hypodermic needle?

Nice avatar of taxpayers. Don’t stroke out worrying about me.

Like I said, please leave, we won't miss you. I promise.
If you are so sure that the Right wing can do a better job, all you have to do is get the numbers to turn it back to Republican control.

Apparently believing everything bad is the fault of the Democrats isn't serving you very well, and you'd think you'd learn from that, but the majority here in Cali figured out a long time ago that this is a problem for Republicans.
That's why your folks have become an endangered species here.
You don't have solutions, only lies, historical revisionism and projection. No one's buying it anymore.
California will continue to try to deal with its problems and we'll do it without your whining and false virtue signaling.

My avatar has nothing to do with taxpayers. The little mouse is a right wing partisan hack and a liar.

CBS:

Good points made from the heart and with honest revulsion.

But, and there is always a but, did 15-year old Shamima Begum take up arms against anyone during her four years with ISIL or did she foolishly embark upon an adventure with her school mates, travel secretly with her two friends to a hellish warzone, marry and mate with a Dutch-born jihadi and have three children by him? The first option is levying war against the West, the second is being a damned fool.

To say the decisions of a fifteen-year old girl means that a 19 year old woman must be left to the cruel mercies of the Assad regime or the Kurds, who will likely summarily execute her as is happening to ISIL women in Iraq, is as callous and blood-thirsty as a young woman feeling no revulsion or remorse for severed human heads laying about her. To condemn her unborn child to a parentless life in war-torn Syria under the Assad Regime is as indifferent to an innocent child's welfare as putting your own children in a situation where they can die of malnutrition or disease. If the Brits cast Shamima and her unborn baby aside are they really that different from the monsters they have just defeated? There is a time for war and there is a time for peace. We seem to have forgotten about the ways of peace due to the forever-war and the unrelenting and poisonous propaganda from all sides which keeps it going. Is the capacity for mercy and the charity of redemption gone in the West? I hope not or we're just as enslaved by fundamentalism and extremism as those we detest and destroy.

Cheers?

You have the right to your views but I don't think stereotyping parts of California is representative of the entire California. Have you ever been to Yosemite National Park?

There is not a chance she will spend even a day in an English prison. The worst she will face is an utterly useless 'deradicalisation course', which she won't bother to attend - not least because her 'community' believes such courses to be satanic examples of 'Islamophobia'.

What she will get is free housing, healthcare and 'single parent' benerfits.

No such thing as free housing and every British citizen is entitled to healthcare free at the point of use.
