I've seen what democracy did in South Africa, you hold it up as some holy grail but there is only success when there are limited corruption and no incompetence. Democracy did not work in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Zimbabwe nor South Africa. Democracy destroyed these countries because they allow corrupt and incompetent government to empty state coffers and centuries of animosity between tribes, races and ethnic groups go on a murderous rampage.

South Africa has gone from a highly industrialised country, with a space program, the tenth largest stock exchange to the most corrupt, most crime ridden, most murders, most rapes, most theft, most hijacking, most car jacking, highest unemployment, cities on the brink of collapse, wildlife body parts hacked off while they are still alive and standing next to their young..... country in the world because of democracy.

You didn't free black South Africa with your sanctions and democracy, you've condemned them to death and poverty, take some responsibility for what you've done.

The reality is Litwin, the reason why Apartheid lasted more than 5 years is because South Africans feared what is happening now, the fear of corruption and incompetence kept Apartheid standing. The reason they abolished Apartheid is because they chose not to remain in power (North Korean slow death style) but decided to risk the scenario we have today, to try and save the country. Clearly the North Korean option would have saved more lives.

My issues with America and the West is that they forced change abruptly on South Africa, and in doing so guaranteed the corruption and incompetence that destroyed South Africa. Change was inevitable and had it been allowed to run it's course, the country implementing change over a longer period millions could have been saved.

You've got to be really stupid to not factor in that this is Africa, the continent of corruption and incompetence, what did people think was going to happen in a democratic South Africa... or did they simply just not think.

ps. you also conveniently forget that NK has been subjected to sanctions for decades and had it been allowed to flourish it would look very different today

yes you have a point , what i think ´d be done in SA its Yugoslavia or USSR solution, 4 - 5 states, Bantu , Colored, Afrikaners, Asians. i know current formula will never work . SA is in 1 step to become a new Zimbabwe
