I'm afraid that you worship at the altar of the US$.

All you westerners measure everything in $s. You have no other measures of value, indeed you have few other values.

What you forget about the Russian civilisation is that it holds different values. Our values are of collectivism, service, family, and religion. Yours are money, individualism, rationalism.

So, since you have few measures other than $s, your comments are based on this measure. By this measure Russia is indeed weak. But you also know that in practice it is far stronger than your measure suggests it should be. Hence the strange anger over Russia's alleged abilities to influence everything, mixed with self re-assurance that it is all about to collapse.

You Americans are destined, by your own lack of vision, to be perpetually frustrated by Russia's failure to behave as you predict it should. You fail to acknowledge that Russia derives considerable strength from civilisational values that are completely alien to your globalist, individualist outlook.

Russia does have problems.

My point is that all the 'Nigeria with snow' nonsense, which has been an underlying thread of much western analysis of contemporary Russia for decades, has proven to be wrong. And it's wrong because the West obsesses about money as a primary measure of power, influence and resilience, when rudimentary observation says that this does not correspond to reality.

Not my problem though.

It's not me who has this irreconcilable dichotomy between Russia as the existential threat meddling in US affairs, and Russia as the poverty stricken GDP minnow.

It's not me who appears schizophrenic.
 
Ukraine can't control its own airspace. It can bankrupt itself buying all the costly and ineffective US weapon systems it wants, but its airforce can't fly because of its proximity to Russian air defence systems on virtually 3 sides.

It's a bit like Canada trying to gear up to fight the US. It's a pointless exercise that only has adverse consequences for Ukraine.

The crocodile tears shed on here for Ukrainians are nauseating.

We agree.. It is hard to control one's airspace with Russian missile launchers shooting down airliners.

Maybe the Russians should stop that.

I wouldn't know about schizophrenic, just that the delusional are more often than not precluded from recognizing their own condition.

With you serving as prime example in that you believe being poverty stricken can hinder anyone from meddling in the affairs of others.
