no it made it a Soviet Union affair all Soviet republics were involved including Russia a Soviet Union led by a Ukrainian from Western thinking Ukraine and like the Budapest uprising of 1956 a Soviet Union led by another Ukrainian Nikita Khrushchev born a couple of miles from Sumy Oblast to ethnic Ukrainian Parents .... Russia was not the USSR it was part of the USSR .... it's like claiming England is Britain/British Empire all 4 countries that make up Britain are equal in the long list of crimes of the British Empire .. and when Scotland leaves the UK ... even though crimes were committed against Scotland we still have to live with the joint crimes we committed

A RUSSIAN population displaced a number of ethnic groups in the former republics...

then explain why Lenin gave South Western Russia to Ukraine when it was populated by Russians and very few Ukrainians ... he did it because Ukraine had no heavy industry ... the Soviet Union even moved Antonov from Russia to Ukraine

It's about your original argument of the Prague invasion (or the crushing of the Hungarian uprising) having been effected by a bunch of independent Republics.

When they were in fact governed by and from Moscow

Soviet is just a convenient label, you don't really believe that any such Republic would have gone against the overall Russian rule?

And Ukraine was made part of the Russian empire long before the October revolution, never mind who populated her.

as part of the Lithuanian and Polish Empire Ukraine was just 2 Oblasts ... under the Russian Empire and Soviet Union when it comes to land Ukraine was the big winner ... due to the extra land it was given

and going by your comments then England should shoulder the blame of the vast crimes committed British Empire.... after the empire was driven from London

Could it be because, after decades of colonial mis-rule, and then tacit support of Rhodesia's UDI, the UK then monumentally mis-handled a so called transition to democracy which facilitated a dis-functional dictatorship? ;)
