Russia’s Invasion Supply & Demand
Rather lengthy (yet very well researched) investigative report on Russia's military logistics-line into eastern Ukraine.
The synopsis: War materials/personnel arrive at Rostov-on-Don by rail. From there they are moved via truck or transporter to a supply depot at Russkoye, Russia which is 15km from the Ukraine border. Bulk items such as fuel tanker cars / flatbed rail cars continue into eastern Ukraine and off-load at the rail junction town of Debaltseve. Once at Russkoye, infiltration into eastern Ukraine has several modalities. One modality is the "humanitarian" convoy of covered trucks driven by Russian military drivers. Since Russia controls 410km of the Ukraine border, these convoys can enter into Ukraine at any of the three border crossing checkpoints maintained by the Kremlin. These convoys are not inspected by Ukraine or any international organizations such as the OSCE/SMM monitoring mission or the International Red Cross (IRC). Other weapon platforms such as mobile GRAD MLRS vehicles with tarps travel on rural dirt roads at night with the vehicles "blacked-out" (no lights). They use GPS for navigation and travel between agriculture fields until they arrive at a paved two lane HWY that will take them to the occupied Oblast cities of Luhansk or Donetsk.
The Russian military supply depot at Russkoye. The Ukraine border between the orange markers is controlled by Russia.
