Italy's European-backed president recently denied the victors of the recent Italian elections the chance to form the national govt - essentially thwarting the will of the Italian electorate:

Ridiculous anti-democratic stunts like this will only precipitate Italy's exit from Europe, along with others as well.

Germany's failing EU enterprise is once again looking like yet another historic ill-fated attempt by them to yoke the continent under their banner - just like Holy Roman Empire and the 3rd Reich were.
History will not judge them well for it, after the dust has settled.

Unsavory as the current batch of Italian politicians is, this is an unjustifiably bad idea. No matter how bad the Italian government is now, it'll be far worse when the citizenry see that they don't actually have a say in their own governance unless the EU likes what they say with it.

The EU's organizational layout is not too much different than the original Articles of Confederation in the early United States.

So let this be a warning to all the nimrods back here at home who think that we need to strip off everything except the 1st and 2nd Amendments because they are so offended by the fact that we progressed to the stage where we decided to form a democratic republic union of "united" states. Are you listening, James972?

The Articles of Confederation version of the USA was a hot mess, and Europeans may have finally reached their own "Articles of Confederation moment" in the form of a constitutional crisis.

The only way that they will ever solve this problem is to become the "United States of Europe" and UNITE their "states" in a union.

Hello! Italy's government will be European, thus European-backed, regardless of runs it and Italy will be part of Europe unless it literally falls into the Mediterranean or ejects itself off the planet.

Italy will be part of Europe unless it literally falls into the Mediterranean or ejects itself off the planet.

Or is renamed.

Rename what? Europe? Renaming Italy certainly won't make it be not part of Europe.

Is Swaziland part of Africa?

As we have been watching them proceed with most of this. The actions currently taken seem more like desperation then actual choice. I don't recall any reason that they would be so willing for any of this to take place.

The Italian president blocked the formation of a government due to one minister. This minister was replaced and the government was formed. It is the Presidents right to do so.

The EU has zero influence on internal politics of a member nation. If some one thinks this, then I have to point out the anti EU fascists in Hungary and Poland and now in Italy.
