Arron Banks has told MPs probing "fake news" his Brexit campaign had sometimes "led people up the garden path". Link.

Yes, both sides of the referendum campaign lied / misled the public in the referendum but what was worst (probably on both sides) was that when they are called for their lies, thee was a resort to Patriotism.

Brings me to mind - "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" and we had scoundrels on both sides. For balance, I'd like to see which "Remain" campaigners are going to be called in to the parliamentary committee?

Lied to by far to many, could that result in any charges?

Must really piss them off in Scotland. They barely voted to stay in Britain on the assurance that Britain would stay in Europe. Every district in Scotland voted against Brexit.
They should hold another referendum.

edit- by 'another referendum', I mean a Scottish independence referendum.

In terms of the referendum, no we're still going to shoot ourselves in the foot as painfully as possible.

In terms of honesty in politics - I doubt it, we've entered an era where fake news and the later confession of lies has little consequence. I think the only thing that would change things is quicker acknowledgement, identification and combatting of Russian influence in our processes.

At the moment, our military is on alert and prepared to fight Russia but huge swathes of our people are closely aligned to him / his politics / white nationalism. There's a dichotomy to be solved one day.

Must really piss them off in Scotland ~

Scotland will stay for the time being - once the full extent of Brexit is made clear (positive / negative) then the Scots should review the situation. The UK Parliament won't allow another referendum for the time being.

Why doesn't some centrist party in the UK start a "LEAVE BREXIT CAMPAIGN"?

Because it would lose the vote ... ?
