The Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union painted a cheerful picture of the state of Brexit negotiations and claimed that “three-quarters of the text” is “locked down”.

He wrote: “With a year to go until we leave the EU, I am more confident in Britain’s ability to thrive than ever before.

“The fact that three-quarters of the text is now locked down and agreed on shows how far the UK and the EU have come.

“We can now start looking to the future, beyond March 2019, to a strong partnership built on a shared desire to look after the interests of our people, our businesses and our continent.

The British version of Comical Ali.

Give it a day and I am sure the EU will contradict that statement.

The EU has never done that per say because there is no need to. The minister in question has always been overly optimistic and been proven wrong time and time again. Some would say he was delusional.
