French far-right leader Marine Le Pen proposed renaming the National Front party co-founded by her father 46 years ago to National Rally, opening a new era after her resounding defeat in last year’s presidential race.

Le Pen’s proposal culminated her closing speech at the party’s two-day congress in Lille, the capital of the National Front’s northern heartland.

The name National Rally must be approved by party members in a mail vote and it’s not clear whether they will accept the change.

Which, incidentally, was also the name of Vidkun Quisling's party in Norway.

Still not hiding your affiliation, Putin Putain.

National Union

n 1933, Quisling left the Farmers' Party and founded the fascist party Nasjonal Samling (National Union). Although he achieved some popularity after his attacks on the political left, his party failed to win any seats in the Storting and by 1940 it was still little more than peripheral. On 9 April 1940, with the German invasion of Norway in progress, he attempted to seize power in the world's first radio-broadcast coup d'état, but failed after the Germans refused to support his government.

Even for racist and xenophobic pieces of ****, sometimes rebrands carry value.

Le Pen wants French far-right party renamed National Rally

The above moniker is borrowed from a French collaborationist party from 1941–1944.....

Wikipedia - National Popular Rally

The National Popular Rally was a French party, and one of the main collaborationist parties under the Vichy regime of World War II. It was created in February 1941 by former members of the French Section of the Workers' International of the neosocialist tendency, led by Marcel Déat. The party was heavily influenced by Fascism and saw the circumstances of the occupation as an opportunity to revolutionize France.

Le Pen's far-right party does indeed have Fascist tendencies as does every European party that Putin financially/materially supports.
