As in Syria, the Russians target critical infrastructure in eastern Ukraine to impair Ukraine government services. At the Donetsk Water Plant (above), 5 workers were shot
with one in critical condition. This station cleanses/pumps water for 645K people, in both government and rebel held parts of Donetsk Oblast.

The website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry Apache HTTP Server Test Page powered by CentOS has been hacked. The message on the defaced home page reads the site files were encrypted and demands 0.1 btc ransom (worth $927.86 by today’s exchange rate). The ransom demand is now gone, but the website is not yet back up and greets with a message that it is currently in 'maintenance'.

Yesterday in the village of Lysychansk, Luhansk Oblast, the funeral and farewell to Matus Oleksandr Vasilyevich. Born in 1981, Matus was a soldier of the 53rd OMBr and KIA on April 20 in the Novoaydarsky District of Luhansk Oblast as a result of enemy artillery.

City sign of occupied Debaltsevo has been spray painted in Ukraine's colors of blue and yellow. In mid-January 2015, a huge cauldron battle transpired here in and around this railroad-hub town in which armored
Russian forces directly intervened to save their proxy militia and capture the town before the newly-signed Minsk II Accord OSCE monitors arrived. This area remains very dangerous.

32 years ago, on 26 April 1986, there was an explosion in reactor #4 at Chernobyl, Ukraine with a core meltdown. Today there is a 30 mile Exclusion Zone around Chernobyl and last year a New Containment Structure
(Novarka) was rolled into place over the destroyed reactor #4. This sarcophagus is 355' high and is constructed of materials that will shield the internal radiation from the exterior environment.

In the Shikhany (Saratov) region of Russia, this branch of the State Research Institute of Organic Chemistry and Technology (GosNIIOKHT) in Shihan
is being torn down to make way for new development according to the Russian government. The nerve agent Novichok (Novice) was made here in the 80s and 90s.
About 200 residents of Shihan were employed at the three-building facility. Everything in demolition will have to be burned in a high-temperature furnace.
