Your own words support my claim - "He's repeatedly spoken of raising a pious generation since the secular society he wishes to abolish would have people thinking for themselves." Yes, pious as in Islamic. Not a yada to be found.

Not so sure about that because they have a geographical importance that the EU and NATO likes.

Personally, until Turkey gets it's **** together I wouldn't have them in the EU but, I feel the same about Hungary.
