I'll bow to superior experience.:lol:Sometimes not so much!

I didn't get to hear or see much on the former but seeing that the funding is an entirely British problem, can't really conceive why it would bother those not involved.
Above and beyond all of which one need see that the ships (Prince of Wales added) will be in operation for something like the next 30 or more years and considering that "Elizabeth" was bought 20 or so years ago (options in design change having a cut off point somewhere since then and now), one can only hope that future requirements of operation have been realistically predicted.
That not being solely a problem of the RN but of any navy.
One thing is for sure though, namely that other European NATO nations currently engaged in air operations over Syria envy France the possession of a carrier the size and capacity of the Charles de Gaulle.
With that accomplished, hovering over the shuttle tunnel won't pose any problem then.
Relax, it's just that the dinosaur aspect of it all has somehow struck my funny bone
It's a good ship that the Americans should copy in many regards.
The USS Ford is a cluster ****. My son in law might be got orders to the Ford to square away the AIMD Dept.
I'm also hearing that the designers and engineers for the catapult system are in full panic. I can't say anything more.
I believe the planned operational life is approx 50 years, the ships are seemingly well designed (for non nuclear ships)
The issue of funding and escorts will be an issue over the short term of course. Operating an aircraft carrier and the escort ships is expensive.
Of course in my opinion the F35B's will be replaced by drones in 20 years or so
From what I have read the failure rate on the emals is much higher that predicted requiring repairs after a few launches. I am sure it will be made "right" but after a significant number of redesigns and $ are put into it (over what has been put into it
Yeah, a most likely option.I believe the planned operational life is approx 50 years, the ships are seemingly well designed (for non nuclear ships)

Leaving aside the habitual discognition of "German media = bad", The Telegraph claims that sailors have been leaving her in droves on account of being bored. Admittedly while she was still in dock (boring for any crew).
Sailors abandoning Royal Navy's new warship 'because they are bored', it is claimed
Nevertheless, if it's difficult to replace sailors even now, let's hope her scheduled cruise provides more incentive to potential future applicants.
In honour of our ally, Great Britain,
You mean your partner in war crimes, terrorism, baby killing, carpet bombing, beheadings with piano wire, "shake and bake" innocents, grand larceny, ... .
Yep. That's the one. My shoes were conspiring with my slippers just this morning. You'd best believe I sorted that out in short order. Now I'm barefoot.
Depends on where it isn't sailing and for how long it isn't doing that. How does one get bored on a aircraft carrier?
CT forum is down the hall, last door on the left. Has a big "loo" painted on the outside. You mean your partner in war crimes, terrorism, baby killing, carpet bombing, beheadings with piano wire, "shake and bake" innocents, grand larceny, ... .

The buzzing of mosquitoes is sometimes annoying, but mostly harmless.

I personally wouldn't want to stay in Rosyth Dockyard for any length of time, aircraft carrier be damned.
I think that telling of the running of XP is a ruse. There was only a couple of feet under her keel as she left the basin to anchor in the estuary to wait for the tide.
She'll only be running Windows XP for 2 or 3 years...
The Navy's £3bn new aircraft carrier is running 16-year-old Windows XP - and could be for another 3 years - Mirror Online
I think that telling of the running of XP is a ruse.
They intentionally leaked that so that any sinister power will hold it to be disinformation (deeming XP to simply be impossible) and spend large amounts of money and manpower on attacking everything more sophisticated, and all to no avail.
Meanwhile she'll actually run on XP but nobody's going to get wise to it.
Pure cunning, I tellsya!
