There goes more of our freedom, in the name of security.

Tougher sentences for suicide attackers, that will deter them won't it.

less freedom on the internet, great, let's give up freedom for security, we will deserve neither.

Is the "socialist" in your description supposed to be ironic? I thought you guys were for bigger government.

No, it is not ironic.

No, it is not ironic.

You more of an anarcho-socialist then?

Do you see the issue with giving a state (which is more than one party) a ton of power? Eventually the people might vote some other party in and then those parties can use their newfound power as they see fit.

I kind of figured it was all over for the English once they started jailing people for singing a song.

We have to stop religious schools.

To for the intergration of society.

To charge those who preach that the Koran is 100% correct with fraud the moment they pass the collection plate around.

That will do it.

Their problems started when they decided that they should not bother with real protections of human rights, the only reason they have their current rights legislation is to comply with the EU and May says she wants to repeal that act.

Ever hear of freedom of religion? If you are going to do that to Islam you have to do it to all religions.

Weak and wobbly as ever, May makes a tendentious political speech while calling for electioneering to pause for the day "out of respect"! She would love a pause right up to election day, since her poll numbers are plummeting daily, and a lead of 1% (from 24% when she called it) doesn't leave her much plummeting room.

That would be nice.

Ever heard of fraudulent practices? Lying and getting money for it.

Freedom of religion does not allow for one person to defraud another. Similar to not allowing the religious freedom to burn a heritic at the stake.

Yep.

The political miscalculation of the century so far.

Then why is it different when a Catholic priest passes around a collection plate? I am all for regulating where the money comes from but outright banning it is a violation of freedom of religion.

Don't let any opportunity slide to circumvent halt to campaigning (agreed across the board to last until tonight).

Presumably 17 bullets (on average) per perp need doubling as well.

The woman always was a catastrophe, be that as Home Sec., be that in the recent past, be that now.

Charge them all with fraud. Unless they start making it clear that what they are talking about is myth and fable.

You are free to doa lot in the name of religion. I think it should only be that you are free to do as much as you do in all other situations so fraud would be out. That would be a change.

No..... The European Convention on Human Rights pre-dates the EEC/EU and was written based on English law.

The problem for the British (mostly Tories) was that they tried to bypass their own laws to cover up their own mistakes. The most famous one, was when they tried to kick out a person they gave asylum well knowing his political and religious views. They tried to kick him out to a country, who the UK had accused and listed as a country that used torture (and death squads), and that meant that the UK could not send people there as per their own law and traditions... they tried to ignore this part.

There is nothing wrong with people following their religion, it is when they start using that religion to justify taking away other's rights, discrimination, or harming others.

Defrauding people out of their money is harm.

Yep. I saw that. It looks rather bad. The feel you get is Orwellian. In Germany they are doing the same and the Eu is pushing too. In the German media the the topic is often put in relation to the the fact that the social media companies are all but one American. The NSA and CIA are greatly distrusted and the bad will has quite a nationalistic feel to it.
While the continental animosity is well known, the Brits aren't as often associated with such emotional populism. But in the past there have been iffy times, as the one Orwell, Hajek or Huxley wrote about.

I'm not responsible for your obvious cartoon stereotype image of socialists. The solution your are looking for is to educate yourself.

Yup, Blair's folly and the Conservatives have just carried it on.

Exactly, and that is what we should do.

I would go for that. In fact I think all private schools should be banned. We would be amazed at how good our schools got if the wealthy were required to send their kids there. In works like a charm in France.

My friends have often sent their kids to schools in places like Switzerland or England and the USA, when it was time for the university. Of course, the French have some wonderfully elitist university for the coming elite.

Yea, they just don't get it... they want the government to work exactly in their vision... but then what happens when the corrupt and powerful begins to take it over? which they always will... anything will be exploited for the select few and the powerful.

I think people should read Lord of the Rings... Tolkien had a lot to say about the power corruption of man. If you read into it, Tolkien either thought a just monarchy(Aragorns Kingdom) or nightwatchmen state(The Shire) was the most just. Anyway, the point is... power corrupts... always..

Socialism requires larger government to enact it.

Unless you believe in the meme of anarcho-socialism and anarcho-communism, which is nothing short of a utopia. My point still stands that if a police state upsets you then you should refuse to give the state more power. There's no telling where that powers goes once you relinquish your soul to the state.
