I think the BBC need to be commended on their docudrama portraying the victims of Rochdale Pakistani grooming gangs. The three episodes portrayed the events, highlighting how the girls were appallingly let down by ALL agencies, apart from a local health worker.
Three Girls: TV drama hailed as 'outstanding' and 'a landmark' - BBC News
"TV drama Three Girls was "extremely true to life" and "a landmark film", according to figures who were involved in the child sex grooming case.
The programme told the real story of abuse and then failings by authorities in Rochdale between 2008 and 2012.
The portrayal of the real people was "outstanding", according to lawyer Richard Scorer, who has represented the girl known as Holly in the show."
Three Girls: Petition demands recognition for Rochdale sex ring whistleblower - BBC News
"More than 100,000 people have signed a petition demanding a sexual health worker who exposed a child grooming ring is recognised for her actions.
Sara Rowbotham, who was played by Maxine Peak in the BBC drama Three Girls, collected evidence that helped convict nine abusers in Rochdale"
She was continually ignored by the Police and Social Services. It has become more than obvious, if she had been listened to, hundreds of young girls would have not suffered at the hands of organised Pakistani gangs.
The Rochdale gang: Rochdale grooming trial: Nine men jailed - BBC News
The sad thing, as one witness said, "she was passed around from city to city" in Rochdale, "she was driven to over 50 different flats".
This epidemic, in the Pakistani community, has been highlighted in many, many other cities across England. And is still going on.
