Germany Confiscating Homes To Use For Migrants?[W:78]

I think we can say with near certainty that he's a 35 y/o townie who still lives with his parents, working a dead-end job and has never left the country. He's had a lot of life experience flexing at people on the internet though.

Let's try twice your age, owns his own business, with a beautiful wife, two daughters, three wonderful grandchildren and has been out of the country.

I admitted I made a mistake now, how about you?

My bet is the State pays the rent to the landlord when the migrants move in. It's probably just that the landlord has no choice but to take the deal--an offer he can't refuse.

Yep. Like waking with the eyes of your favorite horse staring at you.

But the problem is the reduced level of property rights the owner has. For instance she cannot empty the house to refurbish in preparation of a sale. That takes time measures like this tend to reduce the price the owner could get at market.

I would say it increases it because if you know that your houses will be temporarily taken over and redesigned in a manner that is according to the wishes of the government rather than you, and rented out to people you may not want as renters. It is much better to renovate yourself and put the tenants in you want rather than let the government decide for you.

Actually, we just had a situation not dissimilar to this. The restricted use the city government levied meant that the cash flow into the house were stable and guarantied. On the other hand, the price that the owner could get in the market on a sale fell by about Euros 5 millions because the other uses allowed higher prices.

if Theresa May gets her way she will be stealing our houses after we die .... the latest in a long string of right wing policies announced by these vile creatures the tories

In many cases you would get lots of warning about such action. I remember years ago when Liverpool was going to flatten huge areas of old rundown housing the residents got at least 3 years of warning about the council's compulsory purchase plans.

I really doubt the image being given that homeowners in Germany have no prior warning that action is to be taken.

I know in Hull, residents actually campaigned for compulsory purchase in one flood zone area because nobody else would buy their homes. The Environment Agency ended up buying the houses under compulsory purchase and the houses were demolished to create flood relief zones.

Here's another example from Hull where after decades of complaints from residents, the council started purchase orders on a building that was becoming a dangerous hazard as it fell apart slowly.

besides which, there was no reference in the OP to friends one has in Germany that would serve as "own experience". As one has in virtually any other European country

But the rest of it provided sufficient déjà vu for assuming that to simply be an oversight.;)
