After search warrants were served against Le Pen's Front National, looking for evidence of fraud, the lawyer of the European Parliament says that on April 21 the amount of defrauded money has been calculated to be 4,978,122 euro.

The suspicion is that the party has used ghost assistants who have been working for the EU faction of the Front National but who in fact did not do a single thing for the EU faction but in fact were working in Front National offices in France itself for the French faction of FN.

The fraud has been going on from 2012-2017 and the suspect among others are Marine Le Pen herself, her father, Le Pen's partner Louis Aliot and the second in command of FN Florian Philippot.

The revelations of fraudulent nature of Le Pen and her party are very bad news for Le Pen when one thinks that it is only about one and a half week before the second round of the presidential election will take place.

Having been suspected of fraud should be a scandal in itself for it already abuses the trust of voters.

if a person is accused of a crime by just claims, yet no evidence exist of that crime, should the person be destroyed........until we find that there is no evidence which shows them innocent?

This is more than an accusation. This investigations has been going on for over a year with in the EU, and involves more than Front National. Now they have gone to the cops who have to do their own investigation, while the EU starts procedures to lift the immunity for people involved, including Le Pen (and most likely Farage who is under the same investigation).

And before the usual suspects use the Comey angle.. this information about the miss-use of EU funds has been around for over a year and Le Pens involvement (and Farage and others) is well known. Europe has basically been waiting for police investigations, instead of only the internal EU ones. Glad that they finally got their act together, since one of the worst cases involves a Danish politician and the Danish anti-EU party. And no, it is not only anti-EU parties that have abused EU funding.
 
Why would the EU have such funds that they could be abused? Which part of the EU has all these funds and what were the circumstances that they should have been used?

I suspect all political parties of fraud.

I particularly suspect all those in the EU gravy train of it.

I especially suspect that the timing ofthis is due to the sucess of the NF in the recent elections and is designed to reduce the chance of Le Pen getting into power and thus taking France out of the EU.

I think there is a chance that before the Brexit negotiations are finnished the UK will be negotiating with an empty table.

The EU has such funds to make the politicans happy to be part of it all.

The reason they can be abused is that that is the idea.

The EU parliament doles out these funds to the parties in the parliament because they want to keep the MEP's on side.

The reason they allow it to be as corrupt as possible is to get plenty of dirt on all the politicains for use as and when.

I have no reason to doubt your characterisation, but why does the EU say that the money is available and for what?

Holding elections at home for their seat. But it is ONLY supposed to be used for this, and Le Pen and others have used it for domestic elections, which is fraud.

Could you be more specific. Why would an individual or party need aid to hold an election. Wouldn't that be the responsibility of the individual country or jurisdiction? If there was a money transfer, why wouldn't it go to the organization conducting the election?
 
More trouble for the Front National, the guy who has been replacing Marine Le Pen as temp leader of the FN (while she is concentrating on the presidential election), Jean-François Jalkh has stepped down as leader.

His past has come back to haunt him because in 2000 he openly doubted that there ever was a holocaust. This was made public in a news show on French TV which did not go unnoticed with her opposing candidate Macron. Jean-François Jalkh is also one of the people suspected of fraud.

There are two sides to this, the home country and its laws on party financing within and the EU parliament and its regulations on how allocated funds (per party) may or may not be employed.

There are also different elections held for either, i.e. one for the individual country and one for the European parliament (even where both occur in the same country). With each country being allocated its respective number of seats in the European parliament, the composition of MEPs (party belonging) per country will result from the election results at home (for the EP, not for the national parliament).

Financing of whichever party depends on what the home country allows or forbids.

Once a candidate (party) has been elected to the European parliament, s/he/it are allocated funds by the very same to work with FOR Europe. Those are designed to cover all costs that have to do with parliamentary work, again pertaining to the EP.

NOT..............

for financing party election campaigns back home, be those campaigns for the sake of being elected into national parliament or the EP.

In case of this having happened, both the EP and (here) France will have an interest in pursuing such misappropriations.

The EU because its money went to a forbidden venue and France because party financing came from a prohibited source.

The full investigation will not start until way after the election and the result of such investigation will remain wide open for just as long.

As far as Marine's followers are concerned, she's convinced them anyway that it's all a political conspiracy.

To imply that neither suspicion nor investigation exist is very silly.
