How will Brexit go?

So human rights is a joke for you? That countries don't have to live up to even basic human rights and can openly discrimate and kill like 2 bit dictatorships? That because Putin and China don't care about human rights then we don't have either?

Human rights are not a joke, but the hypocrisy-driven UN official human rights apparatus certainly is.

Yes but that does not have anything to do with the declaration on Human Rights does it? And certainly not the European declaration, which has nothing to do with the UN or EU..

Fair enough.

Back to how will it go?

When I was a kid in pre-decimal days, a half-a-crown was an eighth of a pound sterling. It was colloquially known as "half-a-dollar", making the pound worth four USD. When the Brexit referendum took place, the pound was between £1.30 - £1.50. Since the day after, up til today, it's not far from parity.

The bank of England says the pound could fall a further 25% from where it is now if we get #NoDealBrexit. That would bring the pound down to around 81 cents. That plus WTO tariffs would send inflation through the roof!

[h=1]EU officials: No basis for 'meaningful' UK Brexit talks[/h]One negotiator said: "We are back where we were three years ago."
Diplomats from the other 27 EU member states were told on Monday that a no-deal scenario could only be avoided by making substantial changes to the plan on the table - which they could not accept.
Link.

Clearest indication that we are heading over the cliff. MP Matt Hancock said yesterday it is now too late to stop a no deal and Europe has today told Britain there is no reason for further discussion.
The ERG get their way and we all get to pay the price.

It is basically a coup and it all started with Cameron changing the election law 8 years with the fixed term bull****.

Like it or not the Tory party is a threat to the little democracy that there was in the UK and if the opposition does not do something about it, then the Tories will continue to "do an Orban".

Sucking up to Putin is no better.

Well I wouldn't be too sure that BoJo doesn't have more murky interconnections with Putin's sphere of influence than Corbyn does. Mayor of London vs councillor in Islington? Hmm

In his hostility to NATO, the EU and the US, Corbyn would be on common ground with Putin, either wittingly or unwittingly.

Well that hostility goes back to the Soviet times, which is why so many dislike him. Unlike Boris and Trump, Corbyn would never work with Putin or his minions as that would go against his basic views on capitalism and all that.

Hard hitting as usual, this video explores why members of the ERG and the richer no-deal people are so keen to push for as quick a Brexit as possible and effectively this year.

If you don't have time for the video
1) Tax transparency laws will force companies to be much more transparent about the flow of finances.
2) If we are in a transition period, we have to follow EU tax rules that are coming.
3) Leaving without a deal means tax-dodgers escape those rules

Reiterates that many ordinary people who want Brexit are the last to benefit from what is coming.

Was this intended seriously? Or as parody?

Not at all, but I don't think that would be an impediment for Corbyn.

Hard to pin Corbyn down on Putin - I think he's as trustworthy on Putin as any other of our extremists in Europe. That's on both sides of the political divide.

Corbyn is a classical 1970s socialist. Flower power, people's power and democracy, workers rights and all that put into an ideology of the state controlling as much as possible.

Putin is corporate capitalist mafioso. He is in it for money and power with the usual dose of nationalist ideology. He could care less about workers rights and the people.

They are basically polar opposites.

And an old style Anti-Semite. I've seen nothing from him that would rule out working with Putin.

He ain't an anti semite. He is pro Palestinian sure but that don't make you an anti semite.

All part of the smear campaign. Labour's right wing is trying to unseat their lefty leader by any means.

Jewish Labour members support Corbyn, with a few notable exceptions.

This Professor is an Israeli historian. Is he an antisemite too?
