"Workers rights come under attack as Britain is turned into an offshore tax-dodging sweatshop."

Lol!

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The only people sweating in UK companies these days are employers who have to deal with constant demands for more pay for less work.

Hopefully, the Tories will enable businesses to operate without being stifled by oppressive labour legislation.

I hope too that company tax rates are reduced, which will entice investors to place their money in the UK.

This strategy has worked wonders for Ireland :

"Many U.S.-based multinationals are finding luck with Ireland’s low corporate tax rate—and that 12.5 percent rate has been a pot of gold for the Irish economy as well.

In 2015, the Irish economy was estimated to have grown by 26.3 percent through foreign companies opening operations and providing high-paying jobs, including about 700 U.S. companies currently operating in the country.

The Irish corporate tax rate is about half the average for other countries in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which comprises 34 developed nations."

Come on Boris, lower the tax rates.....you might even persuade me to move back to the UK.

What the Brexit cry babies and predictors of doom and gloom don't tell you :

"Brexit has so far gone smoothly at major UK ports, with most of the cliff-edge predictions of chaos from midnight on December 31 missing their mark."

HAHA, that is because truck numbers are down over 80%... no trucks, no problems.

that is because truck numbers are down over 80%... no trucks, no problems.
Er, there is no mention in the article that truck numbers are down over 80%. Why not read it?

But there is no doubt that all the predictions of doom and gloom by sour faced EU residents, have turned out to be false.

As the report says :

“There has been less impact than one might have feared.”

"With the worst predictions of what might have happened following Britain’s departure from the customs union on 31 December not materializing, attention is now turning to the introduction of UK customs controls."

The fear mongers sure have a lot of egg on their faces.....Lol!

The Coronavirus issues are a boon for UK farmers and manufacturers as UK residents are buying more UK produced items.

The Road Hauliers Association has stated the normal activity at the border is between 5000 to 6000 lorries and after the 1st it has been around 2000. While not 80% it is down by a lot would you not say so?

And those lorry drivers that do go, face delays and it will only get worse since France now requires a PCR test for entry...they take time, delaying shipping even more.

In the mean time there are reports of barren shelves in some areas.

So why make up a fictitious figure?

From your own link :

"Predictions of gridlock in Kent have failed to materialise"

"it's been business as usual at the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel. A steady stream of lorries has been boarding ferries and trains to France."

This is certainly not what was predicted by the prophets of doom and scaremongers.

Teething problems had been expected.

You did read that the traffic was down 60+% right? That does not worry you?

And what was predicted was much more red tape and that has come true. It was also predicted that there would be massive ques and yes this has not happened yet because of traffic being massively down.

Those are the facts.

No one in the U.K. is starving...the shops are full of produce and remoaners are retards...nothing has changed other than we get to run our own show.

The PM has a briefing in 3/4 hour. I'm ready!

No one in the U.K. is starving...

So absolutely no one is starving in the UK? That is a brave claim... but regardless, that was not what was implied.

the shops are full of produce and remoaners are retards...nothing has changed other than we get to run our own show.

Let me guess.. NI aint part of the UK right?

Let me guess.. NI aint part of the UK right?

It's a special part of the UK it has two borders. One with the EU and one with the UK but it's secret. The people there have a choice of passport too! They can choose freedom of movement, we can't.

There are people starving in the UK, just from government policy and not Brexit, yet.

please explain then why UK firms are sacking their employees and rehiring them on lower wages .... they couldn't do that in the EU .... it's about destroyer workers pay and conditions and i'm not talking small business British Gas is currently in court over this matter with the unions as British Gas workers have already stage 2 strike days over this

You really need to do some research before posting thumb suck "what I reckons".

"Scotland was the third country to become part of the United Kingdom, after the Welsh had joined England in 1536 and before the unification of Ireland with the United Kingdom in 1800."

"Scottish independence will not have a decisive influence on the stability and unity of the United Kingdom as a sovereign state."

In any case, you would be shocked to discover how little the average person in the UK, or anywhere else, is worried about Scotland leaving the UK.

My own view is that if Scots want to leave then they should be allowed to do so.

But, as we all know, despite Little Scotlanders claiming that the polls showed that the majority of Scots wanted independence, they voted to stay in the UK in a "once in a generation" referendum.

My objection on these threads is to the anti-British insults thrown around by the bitter Little Scotlanders.

They remind me so much of the small minded people I know from the North of England who blame everyone but themselves for their problems.

The Scots I know in the UK and Australia agree with my view.

Scotland has caused its own horrific drug problem, the highest unemployment rate in the UK and its massive deficit.....but the Little Scotlanders blame others.
Wales was not a country it was a English principality as England had conquered Wales hence 2 signatories to the UK and not one or 3

Scotland does not have a deficit by law we can't have one the so called deficit is based on what UK gov Spends on Scotland's behalf and they refuse to break down the spending

the UK is finished :) get over it .... more than likely you will no longer have a seat on the UN permanent security council

Why not substantiate your claims with a link to an actual example if you really want me to answer your question? I have not heard of this being done and it would certainly be an unusual event, but if it has happened I would like to know the circumstances.

Er, Australia doesn't have a seat. Read up.

And I had to smile at your post as you obviously haven't a clue as to the definition of "permanent".

Yes, Great Britain and Ireland.

Perhaps you don't know the difference between Great Britain and the United Kingdom. You should stop gullibly swallowing everything that Wee Crankie tells you and so some research yourself.

As usual, you have a tendency to make up your own history.

"The term "United Kingdom" became official in 1801 when the parliaments of Great Britain and Ireland each passed an Act of Union, uniting the two kingdoms and creating the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland."

The UK actually has a lower level of unemployment than the EU.

In fact the EU has an unemployment rate 71% higher than the UK.

Scotland has the highest unemployment rate in the UK.

Kinda tells you where those who want to work are....and where the best government is.
