Sex education to be compulsory in England's schools

I´m a little bit surprised that that´s a big deal in the UK - we had that already when I went to primary school 1978. It was part of the biology lessons for everybody.

It was part of the biology lessons in the 1960's.

It´s not that scientific as you think. It´s appropriate for children. The name of the school subject is "Sachkunde" and deals with a lot of topics. I said biology because I could not find an english word for that.
btw: my daughter went online when she grew 12 or so - before that the Kids where playing in the woods - I think teaching 4 year old children "staying save online" is a bit inappropriate. ;)

Kids go on line much earlier than that, and children have committed suicide over bullying by text. i do not think it hurts to make children aware of the dangers of the internet. Starting young is a god idea. Because children are starting young on the net.

So it is the reader who does not understand the language, not the article.

And this from the person who failed to read the word "Link.................."

It is only sex education that is voluntary. The new addition of teaching about safe and healthy relationships is what will be compulsory.

You need to read the articles again. The schools have to deliver the education but parents have the right to opt their children out. No point going further with replies till you understand that simple concept.

So it is compulsory but parents can exempt them. How is that different from how it has been?

It is now compulsory for schools to have such classes but , as before, not compulsory for all children to attend them.

Only with your reaction. Speaking of which, yes it's true, we want to make giving blowjobs and taking it up the ass a graduation requirement.....of middle school

I believe you

At first, I thought "brilliant, about time."

And then I read these bits...

All kids should be taught sex education, both for self awareness and self protection, regardless of colour, faith and gender.

Yep, that struck me as very odd too. Either it's compulsory, or it's not. It should be and it should be taught according to a national sex education curriculum. It needs monitoring. I remember our sex education classes, which were given as a part of the Religious Education course (!), being utterly dreadful. We had one teacher who thought it appropriate to perform pantomime routines impersonating Larry Grayson and John Inman when discussing homosexuality. Condoms and IUDs were treated as a joke too. Needless to say, I didn't come out until well after leaving school.

Firstly the link states:

So obviously not compulsory.
Secondly it clearly states from my link that

The only way this works is that there are two separate things here. The teaching of sex itself which is not compulsory and the new teaching they will instigate that is.
The compulsory part is only the new bit not the old sex education that is already in place.
Okay, I'll explain it only that often and to anyone having gone into send mode to the extent of drowning out all incoming signals, I'll explain it no further.

My missing a word is not an excuse for your not understanding words.

True you do not even know what compulsory means and cannot even figure out what is in fact compulsory. No going ahead until you can catch up.

My missing a word

You should have just left it there. Instead, ever since then, you've been on the attack, wrongly too for not understanding what the content of the OP is.

True you do not even know what compulsory means and cannot even figure out what is in fact compulsory. No going ahead until you can catch up.

OK, let's keep this simple for you. Answer yes or no to the two questions..

Do you believe delivery of sexual and relationship classes is compulsory for the schools to deliver?

Do you believe delivery of sexual and relationship classes is compulsory for the students to attend?

If you can get that, then maybe the thread can stop being diverted by your failure to understand what the story is.

Why? A lot of boys go through a homosexual phase.

Those would be "straight dudes who got talked into blowing crafty gay dudes" - Joe Rogan

Or Prison-style "Gay for the Stay"

In the ages this thread is about, 'experimenting' is likely just from hormones during puberty, not a bona fide orientation

At older ages, yeah

Hence enforced cultural Marxism. So much for freedom of conscience.

No freedom of conscience has been violated. They can believe whatever they want. However, if they attend school with homosexuals and don't like that... too bad... they can leave.

Actually that is one question. If it is compulsory to deliver then it must compulsory to attend. One must lead to the other.
It is also, once again misrepresenting the article as only one part is being made compulsory, the relationship part where as the other is still voluntary.

Keeping it simple is probably your problem.

Sez who? You?

Well, that simply would not be enough.

You still seem unable to overcome your difficulties in keeping separate issues separate.

Keeping it simple is probably your problem.
More like yours, by the looks of it.

:doh

OK, you're good entertainment value. Makes a difference from the usual islamophobes tainting the Europe forum.

Keeping it simple is probably your problem.

You "probably" can't read.

Sez who? You?

Anyone who can actually tell you what the word compulsory means.

best you can do is try an insult. Your a waste of my time, goodbye.

Anyone who can actually tell you what the word compulsory means.
It would have to be more than that. Like for instance being able to read sufficiently to know what it is being applied to and what not.
best you can do is try an insult.
from the guy who's waded straight in here all stroppy and chucking disdain at others from the start, that's pretty rich.

If you can't take as good as you give, crying about it when some of your own medicine falls back on you is rather infantile.
Your a waste of my time
It's you're, the possessive adjective being completely out of place here:roll:
