UK- Pakistani Rapists Stripped of Citizenship, Ordered Deported

LONDON — Four men convicted of grooming girls for sex in a case that fueled racial tensions in Britain face deportation to Pakistan after a judge on Thursday upheld a government decision to strip them of British citizenship.

The ruling by an immigration tribunal clears the way for the men, all of Pakistani nationality, to be removed from Britain. They acquired British citizenship by naturalization.

The five victims of the gang who gave evidence in the 2012 trial were all white, and spoke of being raped, assaulted, and traded for sex, being passed from man to man, and sometimes being too drunk to stop the abuses.

A very small victory for the victims involved, as British MPs have estimated that similar Pakistani and Afghan rape gangs are operating around the UK currently.

It looks like the UK's vetting system has been a massive failure. What could be done to prevent predators from entering the UK, and preying on English children in the future?

There's a deal between Pakistan and UK.

The thugs in question were stripped of British citizenship which they acquired via naturalization. They were (and thus are, still or again) Pakistani by birth.

If you hold a citizenship outside of Pakistan the Pakistani citizenship is terminated

Unless one decides to renounce the other
Unless one has citizenship in Britain or its colonies
Unless one is a female married to a man who is not a Pakistani citizen

Makes about as much sense as frisking 80 year old grandmothers at airports because we just can't tell who is likely to smuggle a bomb on board.

He said among others. Pakistani rape gangs are a particular phenomenon but they are basically paedophiles. as such Pakistanis are over represented by proportion but still not the majority offenders in the UK.

I'm not liking that the courts can strip people of citizenship. I don't care what crimes they commit, it creates a dangerous precedent. Send them to prison for however long but the courts should not have the right to remove nationality. It's a heinous abuse of power. Of course right wingers will support this though.

Curious... what happens when a white anglo British citizen rapes somebody. Do they get their citizenship removed as well?

The majority of naturalized Brits will never lose citizenship, and removing child predators just makes sense for society.

Irrelevant considering that their overall percentage of the population is so small. I've gone over this with another poster already, some 40% of Wanted Sex Offenders in the UK have Muslim names, yet Muslim men only comprise 2.25% of the UK's population. Something ain't right here chief.

You presume they were predators when they arrived in the UK rather than becoming predators while living here. Even if that was the case, you’d still need to define precisely what characteristics you believe the “vetting system” should be identifying that it currently doesn’t.

If British citizenship is the only citizenship held (as would be the case with the majority of Brits) it cannot be withdrawn.

1) UK websites generally use ".co.uk" Official organisations such as government use ".gov.uk" or ".org" or even ".org.uk"
2) USA and international websites use .com
3) I have to use government and UK official websites at work all the time so I am suspicious of a .com domain name for a supposed UK database.
