How ridiculous can a country get?

Upon entering the US, Kjell Bondevik, an ex-Prime_Minister of Norway, was delayed an hour by Homeland Security and questioned about a visit he made to Iran in 2014. He was obliged to explain that his visit resulted from the fact that he was invited to speak at a Human Rights Conference.

Careful boys 'n girls, if you were ever working in any of those seven countries (Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Sudan and Somalia) and have an entry-permit stamped in your passport as well as if you want to go stateside, expect some "wait time" at customs. (If dark skinned you are also advised to shave of your black beard!)

This is not the first time that the US has banned foreigners from entering, but the sixth. See from "Al Jazeera" (of all people!) this report: Six other times the US has banned immigrants. Do read about the boat of Jewish refugees that was forbidden to enter the US in June of 1939.

They were forced to return to Germany ...

These things happen. Ted Kennedy was once held for a few hours too.

All those immigration officers should get a real job! And let this man get on with his day! Sad!

Perhaps, but those being detained are certainly not of his stature.

And, more importantly, there is only (at the moment) one fact in the matter. The Dork People say its 109 detained, and potentially tens of thousands as some suggest. Besides, any future attack will not come from anyone who might come into the country but one (or many) who are already in the country.

Trump is merely grandstanding, his usual style of attracting attention to himself by playing-the-crowd.

What is incredible is the number or people last November 8th who fell for it ...

And anti Trump crowds say it's anti Muslim. That is patently wrong, while the notion that a terrorist will not come in on a tourist visa was disproved in Paris yesterday albeit by a national from a country not on the list. As for the 109 number I cannot judge its veracity. What exactly was said?

The number comes from here:
Reince Priebus, Trump's chief of staff, told CBS News that 109 people were detained on Saturday, "most of whom were moved out," and an additional 170 people were stopped before they could get on planes to the U.S.

What's in a number? The one mentioned could have been given to Priebus by the immigration-authorities for one airport on one day, and he told reporters (without giving the right caveats) who assumed it was for the entire nation?

Go figure. I don't believe half of the BS that is being bantered about by the press, either the Right or the Left, in recent days. It's all much too much extravagant. Which is, to my mind, the after-shock effect of Donald Dork's installation in the White House.

It will take a few months to understand that what an official says to the press and how it is said will largely determine how it is employed. Donald Dork was born a BigMouth, elected as a BigMouth, and will preside as a BigMouth. Let's get used to it. (He is NOT stoopid, but very calculating and ridiculously boastful.)

My point: America deserves this mess, given the way it voted on last November 8th. Have fun ... !

So making much out of the 109 number is quite silly or malicious, as the case may be and seems to underline my original point that it is far less disposable than the propaganda that the EO is anti Muslim. That is factually wrong and it is doing damage.

PS: I realize there are people that Trump iritates to the bone. And personally I am quite unhappy to have him as President. He was probably a bad choice and certainly a risky one. But calling him names is childish and shifts concern in the wrong direction quite probably missing important information.

I've been delayed in airports ever since 9/11. And by snowstorms, high winds, mechanical difficulties, rain, etc., etc., since I began flying. You'll have to excuse me if I have little sympathy for reasonable delays caused by our concern for public safety.

"Reasonable delays" - when's the last time you were "delayed" for 5 days?

And has for his "wall", what is the necessity given that migration is about equal both to and from Mexico:

More wasted taxpayer-dollars from Donald Dork ...

I'll call Donald Dork whatever I like. He is a public figure ...

Human rights conference in Iran? That does sound suspicious.

What public safety threat does the former Prime Minister of Norway pose, exactly?

.............and, to enlarge the query, to what levels of corruption of logic does one have to drag reason down to, to equate delays caused by force majeure (aka acts of God) and related issues with delays caused by government actions that apply to people summarily on account of their religion, ethnicity or nationality? Let alone on account of where they've travelled to at some earlier time in life?
