PARIS- A Muslim community in eastern French town of Dijon were targeted by an Islamophobic attack, local media reported on Friday.

The France Bleu Radio said that a pig’s head was hanged on the railings of a mosque currently being constructed.

Genlis City Mayor Vincent Dancourts confirmed the hate attack in a written statement and said that the authorities were in full solidarity with the Muslim community in the area.

I read the headline, and was astonished that the 'attack' in question, was a pigs head placed by some prankster. We'd be very lucky if all religiously motivated 'attacks' were so benign.

Thoughts?

There are literally thousands of that kind of "attacks" in Germany every year. The incidence of politically driven violence with bodily harm is a couple of thousands. I believe to remember a number of 3.007 in 2015.

Maybe they'll be 'tolerant' enough to give him an effective death penalty, as Britain did to the man who threw bacon at a mosque.

I'd welcome people to drive by my house and deliver packages of bacon. It's up to $5 a pound in some stores.

The UK has gone insane. The man who delivered bacon to mosques was only 35 years old, & had already been in prison for 5 months! The British authorities have offered no explanation for his cause of death.

Would the culprit here face prison time if caught?

You mean the pig head man? If it were a synagogue and not a mosque it would be more probable. But even then I doubt it would mean prison unless there was massive popular pressure for some reason. Then it would be viewed under a different law that allows imprisonment.

But there was recently a case of a synagogue that was targeted much more severely than this, the suspects tried to burn it down. The men involved received no jail time.

Where was that? Arson is usually punishable in its own right.

In Germany - Wuppertal from memory. Anyway the judge said trying to urn down a synagogue was not arson but a protest against against Israeli foreign policy. The synagogue was not, of course, owned, financed or managed by the state of Israel.

The country is mad. I remember seeing a march there where people chanted 'this is a Christian nation', and the Muslim immigrants got very agitated, screaming at and threatening the protestors. England isn't America, they HAVE an established church. It is, unsurprisingly, called 'The Church of England'. The fact that people who should be assimilating are howling about someone stating a fact about their nations laws just beggars belief.

Well we know what their aim is, and we're honest enough to say it; Muslims in the UK want their religion to replace Christianity. Unfortunately, Christianity is faltering, atheists side with Islam on many issues, and the government sends men to prison over something as ludicrous as bacon.

You are right that rule of law is not always the first priority in Germany. But the country is no worse than many of the neighbours in this respect and less bad than some.

Yes. Take the incident in the island of Gotland last October when a wheelchair-bound woman was raped by five ensamkommendeflyktningbarn - alone-coming-refugee-children (most unlikely to be either refugees or children but migrants well into their twenties). The response of the Swedish authorities was to panic that the citizens of Visby would demonstrate their anger. There was eventually one very small demo by about 50 people - entirely peaceful. By the time it happened the rapists had been taken of the island.

There was no prosecution. As the prosecutor explained the woman and the 'alleged' rapists gave different accounts of the incident. Such is justice in Sweden.

Do you have a source for this?

Then perhaps you'd like to explain how all the three perpetrators were sentenced for attempted arson in its most serious form? Seeing how, according to your narrative, the judge did not consider it to be a case of arson (successful or merely attempted)?

In none of the three instances of court proceedings (original case and subsequent two appeals).
