Kim Kardashian Held by Gunmen in France

I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. A quick google search reveals that the U.S doesn't make it to the list of top 10 countries with the highest standard of living.

Have you checked out the other countries on your list, their business models, population criteria etc?
Comparing a country that is smaller than a New York borough with a country of over 300 million population spread over almost 10 million square Kilometers or one with two income flows with one that has every type of flow going in and out with one another, you will find you are chasing an absurdity. ;)

So, don't believe that one index can measure the quality of countries. It is almost always a false argument.

So I should ignore complex indices comprising a multitude of qualify of life standards and listen to your denialism? No.

My comments are equally applicable to Lamus and hundreds of other male and female stars who think they have to run around with a fortune of bling in their mouth or around their necks.

Sadly if you flaunt wealth you risk attracting bad people. That is not gender specific.

And I am not talking about rape or sexual assault, I only made a comment about jewelry.

I agree, the odds are good that Kim K. will divorce her Lame-ass Lamus Hubby.

Agreed. Who in their right mind walks around with $9M of bling? That's just stooooopid (of course we all kinda knew that about her anyway).
Ahh. Celebutards from Hollyweird.
Pity those who pay them any mind thinking they are any sort of authority on anything besides the world of make believe in which they live and work.

Well, some of them (read Kim K and her full blood sisters and many others) are totally devoid of talent or skills, they are famous for no other reason than being on reality TV shows. Fame breeds fame one could say.

Not at all. But one should compare things that are comparable. That is difficult enough. The other is a fools game.

On a more cheerful note, Kim proved that a woman can be fat and get paid millions for it.

It's all in the distribution, ladies.

On top of that, as opposed to jewels, it's impossible to steal someone's fat T&A, so why the bodyguards?

Robbers held Kim Kardashian hostage for and stole her booty, luckily not the one she's famous for.
Is crime out of control in France?

KK gets robbed, so crime is out of control in France?

Firearm-related death rates per 100K population per year (here):
France: 0.21
US: 3.43

Your chances of getting killed by a firearm in the US are 15 times that of France.

And here is the comparative chart for all crimes (compare West & Central Europe with North America) from here:
Crime - Major Assaults per 100K Populatoin.jpg

Dontcha think you should be putting your question to yourself ... ?

Cheerful, me arse - your remarks regarding a personality are out-of-place. Cheap shot!

Guards were there, which is why there were 5 assailants (all dressed as police). The guards were hired because the larger part of the jewelry stolen did not belong to her, but a Parisian jewelry store.

She did lose her $4M (supposedly) wedding ring ...

You didn't read much beyond the OP.

Why do people always attempt to compare everything to the US?
Is the US a part of Europe?
What country in the EU has 322,000,000 people?
And finally, I said myself that I believed that the US has a crime problem in several posts on this thread.
Our overall number of intentional homicides per year are similar with those of Uganda.

There is no indication of where you are from - sooooo I presumed (from your English) it was stateside.

I am not tracking you personally so "what I said" is irrelevant. If you don't want to be surprised, be more specific in your posts.

Yes, the US has a homicide problem. There is Hollywood murder-'n-mayhem all over TV (because evidently, Americans like to watch murder and mayhem). So, "monkey-see, monkey-do". Especially amongst sick minds.

It permeates from fiction to reality - as the homicide rates indicate.

Which is why, as a Yank, I prefer to live in France - the only time I hear or see a gun is during hunting season, which does not last more than three months in the year ...

Your chances of liberating yourself without those gun-loving Yankees = 0

Your chances of helping the US defending itself in America = 0

Your chances of surrendering quickly to save Paris = 100%

Can this thread please come to an end, quick smart!

seconded, thirded and carried by all means.

It's driving me insane. Nearly every news source has it on repeat, with copious variants like, 'family warned each other over displaying jewellery etc'.

I love a frivolous mystery. ;)

Comparing France with the US carries a risk of getting a response you don't like. Please don't do it.

And then the French dude will get reminded that the hip Paris bistro's are selling burgers and fries now.

Carry on.....

No idea about frivolous but it sure is a mystery how some bimbo getting her glitter lifted some place across the pond can create the trash that one now gets to read
here.

Europe bashing in general, France bashing in particular, gun laws, WWII.

All it takes now is that the uniforms worn by the perps were of a security detail that guards abortion clinics and that the wearers are all closet Mooozlims.

Jesus wept.
