Where does your christian name rank in terms of popularity

I do not have a Christian name, I have a first name/atheist name ;)

Is there a similar website for the popularity of Dutch names?

I am curious as to why it your name was originally "with it", but then lost popularity in 1940.

"Neville" would certainly have been in popular decline that year! However, I expect I cannot think of a reason why "Neville" would ever have been a "with it" choice.

"Neville" has never been in the top 100 names... Keep trying, you might raise a laugh sometime.

So, Oliver remains the number one name for boys in the UK while Amelia remains number one for girls. Here below is the Office of National Statistics interactive tool which will show how popular (by decade) your name is.

Knowing how "with it" my parents were, I can see why the Christian name chosen for me lost popularity in 1940... :lamo

Oh wow !

What the hell ?? The name Christopher has taken a nose dive in popularity !

Ive always like my name so WTH ?

Utter garbage journalism. The Independent should be ashamed. Yea lump all the Mohammeds into one, but not variations in other names... pathetic racist xenophobic bull****.

All the papers ran that story until it was pointed out you had to put all the variations of the spelling and name together. Caused a feeding frenzy for bottom feeders cos every thread has to be about muslims at some point.

As clearly and correctly explained in the article, Ollie and Oliver are not the same name, while Muhammad, Mohammed and Mahomet are mere alternative spellings of the same name, transliterated in different ways from Arab to the Latin alphabet.

I am sorry for you if you are unable to understand it, but they are correct to make this distinction. Any British will tell you that Ollie and Oliver are two different names, and every Muslim will tell you that Muhammad and Mohammed are their only prophet's name. And any linguist would right the Independent.

"Neville" has never been in the top 100 names...
It appears to me that Neville shows up in one year, about 1934, in about 82nd place.

(from post #20):
Oh I appreciated the humour

I fully agree with you that my "Adolph" wisecrack was a good one.

You really ought to go ahead and admit "Neville" was too. They sure beat the hell out of your inept "Jesus", who, btw, is not relevantly a "dawn of time" personality. You must somehow have confused Jesus with Adam.

Not even sure mine is on the list haha.. It is an ancient variation of Peter, which aint even in the top 20 anymore.. tsk. My name is supposed to mean King of Kings or something like that.

In Denmark most popular girl name is Sofia and boy name William.. very non Danish. But nr. 2 for girls is very Scandinavian... Freja :)

Interesting, nr 2 boy name is the same in both countries. And technically Sophie is just a variation of Sophia, which is nr. 1 in Denmark.. well the Sofia variation.. we dont use "ph" in Danish.

Noah has popped into the UK this year too, I think top 10. Wonder how much influence the recent movie had on people.

It could turn out to be the most popular boys name in Europe soon?

As for Sophia / Sofia - I know in Sweden it's Sofie - I have a very good friend there who always told me off for spelling her as "Sophie."

There was a movie? Which?

Russell Crowe as Noah, 2014.

"Gladiator" without the swords and Roman gladiatorial bouts.

Thats like 2 years ago.. came out in March April in Europe, and was nr. 1 in Denmark one week, mostly because there was no other movies worth watching... Doubt that it had much influence.
