Voted for Corbyn today, I am totally unconvinced by Smith.

I voted in the NEC elections earlier this year and again voted with my convictions.

Anyone else voted?

Wow! That was a surprise Will

is this like a primary in britain?

Not totally.

The party leader is voted for by the party members and generally becomes Prime Minister if his party gets the most MPs (representatives) at the general election. Technically we vote for an MP (representative) of the party at local level but, I believe that most people vote for the leader of the party.

We don't vote for our head of state (the Queen).

The vote was called because all other MPs declared a vote of no confidence in the leader. It is difficult to tell what , actual support he enjoys. There is no mistake of the fact Labour subscription has vastly increased, due to Corbyn. The trouble, is the converted will not be enough to win the election in 2020, or before.

A lot of my local colleagues signed up to support Corbyn this time round, they aren't Conservatives hoping to keep Corbyn in place so as to help the conservative party stay in power. They don't care about his record in the ME and with ME terrorist groups on his platform and I also wonder whether his lukewarm response to the referendum is also bringing some of those Labour voters who voted UKIP back in.

I think he'll be returned and then things will get interesting as he will remain just as unpopular with the Parliamentary Labour Party.

Corbyn might be a decent chap, I don't know but last week he made a fool of himself with his sitting on the floor fake story.

The sad part is, he didn't need to pull the scam. Everyone is well aware of the problems on our rail network.

I know, but to fake it when it is not actually true than you are damaging your valid complaints about the rail system. Sucks for him that the rail network could easily prove he was making a false complaint when he sat down on the floor and then got back to go back to a seat. If you cannot sit together than so be it, then you will have to sit behind each other until there is place to sit side by side.

It has got to the stage where you could probably post a reply every day of the week, on those suggesting Corbyn is not the answer: Ed Balls describes Corbyn leadership as 'leftist fantasy' - Ed Balls describes Corbyn leadership as 'leftist fantasy' - BBC News

Ed who? Oh that's right, him. Yet another irrelevant social democrat that probably wants the Labour Party his way or he takes the highway. They love a broad church except when one part of the church gains a little more purchase over the church that he prefers.

The irony of those Blairite/Brownite/MIllibandian types talking about how unelectable Corbyn is on the back of Labour's two successive GE defeats under their leadership is really quite gob-smacking. Do any of them seriously believe Owen Smith is electable as a Labour PM? He looks like Milliband-lite, but with less charisma!

Do you think Corbyn will win a GE?

That list calling out Corbyn is getting bigger by the day Andy

Yeah, they're pacing themselves. It's a shame they couldn't organise opposition to the Tories with the same rigour and commitment they have reserved for attacking socialism.

Terrific comment.

I don't know but, we weren't winning them anyway so, why not try something other than slower implementation of Tory policies. All that Labour has succeeded in doing over the last 30 years is concede more and more ground to the Tories such that the right wing government we currently have appears moderate. It seems to me that Corbyn has something, no apologies for capitalism screwing us up around 2010 and a proper mixed economy with appropriate taxes being paid by everyone.
