Left clashes with far-right in Germany...

From speaking with many Germans on this issue and seeing the recent rise of right leaning political parties in Germany I think its fair to say that Germans are extremely "Self Conscious" of the huge stigma the world has viewed them with since WWII and are very wary to openly admit to how they feel. They also believe strongly in conformity and not "Rocking the Boat"

If you were speaking alone with many Germans in a quiet place and said "hey so what do you really think about the Changing Demographics and large scale immigration into Germany" you might find a different trend than even the most recent polls are suggesting. This is obviously just an opinion, but do you disagree? and why?
I can't claim to be speaking to ALL Germans and those I'm in contact with may not constitute overall representation of Germans.

I hear three things though.

1. Nationalism is crap and the death of any society that wants to see itself as liberal (not the US version "liberal).

2. The handling of the refugee issue, especially last year, was a total screw-up. Not the offering of refuge but having done it in the totally uncontrolled manner that then transpired.

3. New Years night in Cologne was one thing, people fleeing for their lives is another. Both should not be conflated.

..................Well, they better all wake up soon! This immigration overrun is a Huge problem for all of Europe!
If you were at all informed upon Europe you'd know that other countries were not being swamped the way Germany was.

No....they aren't! The Tea Party people, who I really like, are all about stopping the nonsense from the Left! Well, they better all wake up soon! This immigration overrun is a Huge problem for all of Europe!
They call 'patriotism' and the defense of one's culture 'nationalism' and 'extreme right wing' over there now, which pretty much means the sides are deeply divided. It's either another civil war or massive White Flight. Either way its TU for Western Europe.

Ah, never mind.

Whatever helps you, dude.

It's not about me...it's about what helps the Country!

I am. I have good friends in Italy and Switzerland and they are very dismayed about the entire Muslim crapola! They also do not like the EU one bit.

The power in the EU comes from the top down, something many Europeans were accustomed to in the past but less so now. Many are still comfortable with that situation though, as we can see, but it would never fly in democracies outside Europe.

Once again we are just sharing general views and I respect the general thoughts in 1. and 3. However 2? When we are talking about the sudden size and scale of the crisis that hit Europe at the beginning of the in what ways should Germany have better handled the situation?

Yeah, it's 20/20 hindsight now, I'd agree.

What gets lost in all the hubbub is that Germany didn't just all of a sudden decide to go humanitarian off the cuff, it felt it had to react to the atrocious conditions by then prevailing in Hungary for those refugees that had made it there

That a large influx was on its way was, however, known years before (or should have been). The tsunami did not at the time come from Syria direct, it came from the camps in Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey. All of which were bursting at the seams long ago and it was only a matter of time before something had to give.

Add to that the UN running out of money to contribute towards "feeding" and add also that last not least Germany (the one now paying sizable sums and clamouring for others to do the same) closed its purse strings as well at the time.

Informed as I need to be. I was in Europe prior to the EU...and after. The EU sucks...just like the UN!

And the sovereignty of individuals countries has been trashed!
