Ultimately, however, the way to reduce carbon emissions most effectively is to cut energy consumption directly, rather than trying to switch everything to renewables.
HyrdoCarbon fuels power the world... and have done so reliably for well over a century.

Renewables are risky, and some... like biofuels (like turning food into fuel) are downright idiotic.

You can’t run industry on renewables... and Moore just illustrated this voodoo ain’t green either.

Cutting trees down is not even close to teh biggest problem of bio-energy.

Biofule is created with food. 40% of US arable production and a similar amount of EU food goes into biofuel. This has raised the price of food at no CO2 benefit. Food would be half the price if we stopped.

The 3 billion people who live on less than $3.25 a day die in the 40s. If they had food at a free market price rather than the mamipulate one we have they would expect to reach 60. Around 20 million deaths per year.

The tropical jungle and forests that are being chopped down today are dying because of the planting of palm oil.

Sources for those claims? That yes you have unsustainable bio fuels production and they need to stop. While if you want to focus on people ability to feed themself and land use you also have bigger problems to deal with. For example global inequality and overconsumption of meat.

""If all the grain currently fed to livestock in the United States were consumed directly by people, the number of people who could be fed would be nearly 800 million," David Pimentel, professor of ecology in Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, reported at the July 24-26 meeting of the Canadian Society of Animal Science in Montreal. Or, if those grains were exported, it would boost the U.S. trade balance by $80 billion a year, Pimentel estimated.

With only grass-fed livestock, individual Americans would still get more than the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of meat and dairy protein, according to Pimentel's report, "Livestock Production: Energy Inputs and the Environment.""
