Heartland looks like it’s in trouble.

They keep blowing money on ‘anti-Greta’s, and stuff like this happens.

Pro-Trump Climate Denial Group Lays Off Staff Amid Financial Woes, Ex-Employees Say | HuffPost

An influential climate-denial think tank bankrolled by President Donald Trump’s far-right billionaire donors has laid off nearly a dozen staffers amid financial troubles, according to three former employees.

The Illinois-based Heartland Institute ― which captured headlines last month for promoting a German teenager with ties to neo-Nazis as the climate denier’s alternative to acclaimed youth activist Greta Thunberg ― pink-slipped at least 10 staffers Friday, shedding what one former employee described as “more than half” the organization’s staff.

“Heartland is broke,” Nikki Comerford, the nonprofit’s events coordinator on staff for nearly 21 years, told a former colleague in a text message, a screenshot of which HuffPost reviewed.

I, for one, have no sympathy for these scumbags.

It’s horrible that their goal is to primarily attack a teenage girl. It would be entirely different if they were the usual “climate change is a hoax,” but attacking a girl and calling her a Nazi is way too far.

Wait.

So spearheading an attack to stop or at least delay the implementation of climate policies (and they have been dishonestly doing that for decades) that will certainly lead to the death and misery of thousands of people in the future takes a back seat to ‘attacking a girl and calling her a Nazi’?

I think your priorities are twisted.

I understand your POV. I am not trying to make excuses for climate denial and conspiracy theories. I support getting the facts out to people, and Heartland is definitely not doing any of those things. I see this Heartland organization as worse than the normal climate denial orgs, because they are attacking a young girl in the manner they are.

Sadly fossil fuel companies till spend enormous money on trying to delay the transition away from fossil fuel.

"Documents unearthed by InfluenceMap revealed that Exxon lobbyists met Brussels officials in November to urge the EU to extend its carbon-pricing scheme to “stationary” sources, such as power plants, to include tailpipe emissions from vehicles using petrol or diesel.

Green groups believe this would be the least effective way to disincentive fossil fuel vehicles, and would rather allow countries to set their own emissions standards and targets for road emissions.

The move appears to be an attempt to stall the rollout of electric vehicles by keeping a lid on the cost of driving a traditional combustion engine vehicle running on fossil fuels. The European commission stopped short of proposals to phase out combustion engine vehicles and has plans to consult on whether to include vehicles in its carbon-pricing scheme."

Even now then the evidence is so overwhelming that even Exxon have to publicly support the Paris Accord.

I think you might have the story wrong. Heartland has been attacking Greta Thunburg, a 17 year old girl who basically just says "listen to the scientists", and they are promoting a 19 year old girl Naomi Seibt who says "don't listen to the scientists- listen to industry funded false memes- like "it's the sun!"" and who has spoken at events for the German white nationalist party, Alternative for Germany (AfD) and whose mother has been a lawyer for AfD politicians.

A big difference is that Greta Thunberg is not alone that she are part of a movement of millions of young people all across the world.

There older generations are also taking action on climate change.

There companies and politicians are also inpired into action.

There even Republicans are inspired into action.

"Other red states and municipalities are slowly starting to address global heating. After banning the words “climate change” from state environmental agencies, Florida now has a chief resilience officer tasked with preparing for sea level rise. After a year of disastrous flooding, Nebraska lawmakers advanced a bill to develop a climate change plan for a full legislative debate.

Utah prides itself on being business friendly – and it has a rapidly growing tech sector concerned about environmental issues, as well as booming tourist economy that revolves around the ski industry and public lands.

The Utah plan, known as the Utah Roadmap, began, like a number of recent environmental initiatives, with young people clamoring for action. High school students drafted a resolution that recognized the impacts of the climate crisis and encouraged emissions reductions, and persuaded two Republican lawmakers to sponsor it. Environmental advocates say it was the first measure of its kind to pass in a red state. The legislature followed up with state money for experts to provide policy recommendations."

I post an OP about Heartland, and we.... get blasted by JH cut and pastes about the great work Heartland is doing by trashing a teenager.

My #9 makes it clear Heartland isn't broke.
Your OP introduced Greta into the discussion.
No Heartland activity against Greta has been claimed by anyone but you.

No one is surprised at your lack of sympathy- you are what you are.

This only shows that there is no money when it comes to telling people there is no climate crisis- and it proves why climate pseudo scientists continuously engage in false fear mongering and apocalyptic predictions, they do it for the $$$.
