Revealed: quarter of all tweets about climate crisis produced by bots | Technology | The Guardian

The social media conversation over the climate crisis is being reshaped by an army of automated Twitter bots, with a new analysis finding that a quarter of all tweets about climate on an average day are produced by bots, the Guardian can reveal.

The stunning levels of Twitter bot activity on topics related to global heating and the climate crisis is distorting the online discourse to include far more climate science denialism than it would otherwise.

Ya don't say...

Bloomberg just pays people to do it! :peace

Mike Bloomberg is paying people to send their friends texts about him

The former New York City mayor’s campaign is hiring hundreds of people in California to spread the pro-Bloomberg word on social media and via text message, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. His campaign is trying to bring on upward of 500 “deputy digital organizers” to promote Bloomberg to everyone in their phones’ contact lists and on their private social media accounts. And the pay isn’t bad: $2,500 a month for 20-30 hours per week of work.

The WSJ report lands just days after sponsored Bloomberg memes started popping up on big influencer accounts all over Instagram. It was part of a paid campaign the New York Times described as an effort to build a “self-aware ironic character” around Bloomberg.

Why hijack this thread? This one is about bots and climate change.

Create your own thread about Bloomberg.

LOL if what the bots say equals the alarmist BS that comes out every day on the Guardian and CNN, then it evens out.

Just another smarmy attempt to undermine free speech, based on the intellectually lazy "settled science" falsehood.

"Free speech for BOTS!"

Is that your argument?

Free speech, period. That's my argument.

Then we can add it to the list of things you pretend (poorly, at that) to know about. Twitter is not a state actor. Whoopsie, there goes your rambling about free speech.

Free speech eh ? When even having the temerity to question the faith (for it certainly isn't science) immediately gets one branded a 'denier' (with all the deliberate connotations that word is meant to imply) that statement is a bit rich frankly

Another angle in the attack on free speech.

[h=1]Atmospheric Scientist Labels Critics of His Work As ‘Haters’[/h]Posted on 21 Feb 20 by JAIME JESSOP 12 Comments
Paul Williams, Professor of Atmospheric Science at Reading University, has issued a strict edict on Twitter regarding the rules of engagement for critics of his research: What that basically says is don’t engage with me if you have any criticism of my studies because I will block you if you do. Which is … Continue r

These are all the comments so far from those who do not accept the OP.

Notice that none of them, not one, offers a shred of evidence to disprove it.

I wonder why that is? ;)

Do they ever?

What about the free exchange of ideas? I thought you people were all about that?

Oh heck no, climate cultists want to censor anything that casts doubt on their coming climate apocalypse- its their holy koran/bible/talmud.

Notice that they are all on subject, all different, all thought out and persuasive.

Note your responce, whilst I expect not an automatic computer generated thing, might as well be. There is no argument there.

If of course you think that firing bot like posts in support of the Alarmist side will turn people off that side I agee. Carry on.

If you want people to think you are clever you should have a think about what somebody has said and argue, explain, why that position is wrong. Pursuade.

None of those comments were on point or persuasive in the least.

9 out of 10 Bots would agree

I see that Calamity is Bot and paid for, for his continual stream of misleading articles he posts.

You graduated from Bot University?

Still no refutation to the OP. Go ahead, this is getting amusing.

Do you mean the facts I present that always overturn your most recent dumb argument, like this one from the thread on the Colorado River?

That article is ten years old.

Here's an article from last week.

Climate change is slowly drying up the Colorado River | Science News

The team found that over the 20th century, warmer weather allowed for less snow cover, exposing darker ground that absorbed more sunlight. That caused more water on the ground to evaporate before it could feed into the Colorado River, diminishing river flow.

Once again facts trump denialist bull****. I am not sure why people insist on remaining ignorant and sounding stupid. But, it does persist.
