Bringing up Venus blew whatever credibility you might have thought you had here to smithereens :doh

Stating that scientists have actually hypothesized that Earth might be like Venus blew up MY credibility? :doh

Yup it sure did. Venus atmosphere has 92% CO2 Earth currently has 0.04% CO2

Cite me any scientist claiming Earth would ever become like Venus ? :waiting:

So the Earth has gone from 0.03 % C02 To 0.04% CO2 in the last 150 years

Explain how that could ever get to 92% ? :waiting:

Why are you asking me? Ask those scientists.

Why are you asking me? Ask those scientists.

No I'm asking you as those 'scientists' you allude to tend to be conspicuous by their absence when challenged on such issues.

Why do you believe this BS ? :waiting:

Who said I believe it? It's very possible that Earth will become hotter and hotter, more like Venus, thousands of years from now. If you are interested in their explanation, you are free to read their papers.

Why would a colder Earth be better ? What is the ideal climate and why ? I ask hard questions don't I ?:waiting:

So that ends that debate then :doh

I accept your capitulation

You made up an imaginary argument for me then accepted my capitulation? :lamo

But anyway you asked me why cooler Earth is better and I answered with a joke. Because our conversation has been a joke.

No you didn't ...... you folded .... nuff said You guys always do

Folded on what? All I said was that some scientists hypothesized that the Earth might become more and more like Venus. If I said that Trump said that windmills cause cancer, does that mean I believe it?

And Santa might be real .... go figure :)

You ascribe to an agenda that wants to kill most of us and I get that . Pardon me for wanting to live .....

Uh what? What agenda? Depopulation? Isn't that a conspiracy theory?

Ha ha ha,

yet this is what YOU wrote at post 291, that I responded to:

bolding mine

"....you may not have read yet"

:lamo

Here are all of the posted comments GLITCH made here up to post 291, to show which one you are claiming he said it:

245 - No link at all

255 - no link at all

259 - no link at all

264 - no link at all

285 - posted a link, title: Rapid Eruption of the Siberian Traps Flood Basalts at the Permo-Triassic Boundary

288 - posted a link, title: Palaeoecology: ecosystems, environments and evolution by P. J. Brenchley and D.A.T. Harper, Chapman and Hall, London, 1998, No. of pages: 407. Price: £30 (paperback). ISBN 0412–434504.

You the embarrassing confused one at post 291 - posted a link, title: The Flooded Earth: Our Future in a World Without Ice Caps

Glitch NEVER brought up that link at all, that was YOU who did that at post 291! You had replied to Glitch's post 288

YOU made that clear when you stated this:

Here's another book by Peter D. Ward that you may not have read yet:

Peter Ward is NOT in either one of Glitch's links at all.

Suggest you stop digging that very deep hole now. I tried to help you take note of YOUR obvious error, but now you are flailing around with unsupported baloney.

:3oops:

:lamo

Sigh. This is Glitch's post that I was replying to:

Actually, we do know this by irrefutable scientific observation. From recorded information in both the ice, sea-floor, and rock strata. For example, there are tell-tale signs of glaciation. One of those signs is called glacial erratic and is typified by pieces of rock that differs from the size and type from rock native to the area in which it rests. They could only have gotten there by being transported by ice.

You can choose to ignore the evidence, but that doesn't make it speculative. It just makes you ignorant.

What has not been established is the cause for either the ice-ages, the prior warming periods, or the current warming period. Since this current warming began around 1850 it couldn't have anything do with humans. The fascist left want to blame humans so they can impose more government.

This current warming period is also not unprecedented. The last warming period was called the Medieval Warming and it occurred between 950 AD and 1250 AD, and it was warmer than today. Prior to that was the Roman Warming which occurred between 200 BC and 400 AD, and it was warmer than either the Modern or Medieval warming periods.

Nobody is saying that the world will end. Basically the weather will get worse. Besides it has been hypothesized that in the far future the Earth will turn more and more into Venus.

1, What do you think the weather will do that will be worse? I know that this may sound like I am asking for the obvious but when you start to say it and try to find evidence to support it you will see where I am going.

2, You should not talk about catastrophies, VenusII, that are simply not at ll possible in any way at all.

Sorry for the delay. My browser froze.
Anyway I read about it when I was a teenager. Also this: Stephen Hawking: Earth Could Turn Into Hothouse Planet Like Venus | Live Science
And: Runaway greenhouse effect - Wikipedia

Yes, there is a lot of exaggerated hype from people who should know better.

But there is no possibility of any such run away effect.

This is known because the earth has had periods of massively more CO2 with massively hotter temperatures for most of its' history. It never went into the Venus situation. If the temperature on earth is ever above 50c at night over the ocean I would expect the problem to happen, and happen quickly. The water would indeed evaporate very quickly and this would make the atmosphere much thicker quickly. As the air pressure increases the temperature increases. This process would be irreversable untill the solar wind had driven off enough atmosphere to take us back down again. That may never happen, water is a heavy molecule to blow away.

You do realise, Tim, that the people who told us that the Earth had more CO2 and higher temperatures in the past are the same people telling us how serious AGW is, don't you? People like Peter D. Ward.

Yet another example of why it's impossible to talk to right wing stooges about climate change. This guy literally thinks "climate changes naturally" is somehow new information to us liberals. You can't discuss such a complex issue with someone who has zero understanding of the basis of the discussion. It's like trying to talk swapping engine parts for better low-speed torque with someone who thinks vegetable oil goes in the engine.

So you are saying that climate does NOT change naturally?

Are you saying that the planet has NEVER been warmer? Never cooler?

What is your thesis. Please, oh, please, help us to see the all-knowing wisdom that only Democrat-Socialists possess.

Out of curiosity, does your life planning extend past 2030?
