Yes, because people like you just need to hold up a child as shield when you can't speak on your own. You'd rather treat her like a puppet and fiddle her around at your own accord, instead of standing up, and speaking for yourselves.

She's basically being treated as your personal toy in this case and when she's lost her usefulness. The lot of you are simply going to cast her into the gutter.

I would rather she live her own life and not be treated like she is by the lot of you.

It's a UN conference with over 100 nations and I don't even know how many NGOs. They'll discuss the results of the Warsaw conference, the Paris Agreement, Kyoto Protocols, the Green Climate Fund, national adaptation plans, climate impacts on developing nations....

They offer numerous options for virtual participation: Virtual participation COP 25 | UNFCCC They even have their own mobile app. Again, the entire conference can't be virtualized, and it's much more effective to be there in person. But it's not much of a surprise that a bunch of deniers shot their mouths off without knowing basic facts.

A largely failed task of the last 30 years.

Kyoto Treaty was a massive bust, the Paris accords is not doing well either....., it is a massive National Socialism drive, which apparently zooms right over your head.

Meanwhile America who never signed any of those highfalutin treaties/accords/whatever has been a success in reducing CO2 emissions the last few years, while your socialist hero China still increasing their emission rate, so has India, both signatories of the Paris accords.

The same U.N. that runs the IPCC and their never ending far into the future unverifiable modeling constructs.

It is clear YOU deny The scientific Method and Reproducibility of science research.

Seeing as she was pretty lost for words when she was asked and her handlers weren't nearby. Something tells me that she really isn't just spreading "her own" opinions at this point.

That "something" is your own prejudice.

Back in the real world, if anything she's the one pushing people around, including her own parents. Her first protest was a solo affair, outside the Swedish parliament. Her parents tried to talk her out of it, and failed. In contrast, Greta talked her mother into refusals to fly, even though it's impeded her career; she convinced her father to become a vegetarian. Greta's Asperger syndrome makes her even more stubborn and direct than a typical 16 year old.

Of course, the more important point here is that you're attacking a 16 year old girl for accepting the science of climate change, and pushing elected officials to take the threat seriously. You're not criticizing her tactics, you're not refuting the science, and since she's not a scientist you can't go against the credibility of her work (as she's only saying "listen to the scientists.") Instead, you're engaging in ad hominem attacks on her, as a person. What a weak argument.

You're acting as though this is the first time I've seen a child get hoisted up and held as a shield against actual discussion. When her best and most repeated words are "How dare you" it's obvious that her argument isn't coming from place of intellectual thought, but more like a realm of false moral outrage. Much like your own words are coming from.

Just because she's a child and is being touted as some sort of herald by the left, does not in fact guard her from criticism. It was a truly idiotic notion to sail on a boat, in place of taking a flight. Because the recourse had to be wasted to make the boat, to stock it, and then people had to flown out to sail the boat back. So her hollow, ill thought out gesture was for naught. If all of this happening is really just her doing. Then she quickly proved herself to idealistically stunted, morally withdrawn from the people around her and stubborn to reason. Just because she's who she is, does not protect her from being wrong.

So if you want to shovel more of that faux outrage my way, the so be it. I'm just being blunt about the situation that this girl is not someone that the left, nor anyone else should haul up on their shoulders. Because their just going to screw her over like they've done the others, or let her slip into obscurity and die there.

Poor lass, she went to America by sail boat to avoid the problem of flying using fossil fuels but the IPCC's conferance has moved to Spain from Chille after the locals started rioting due to the increase in costs of all that green crap.

So she needs to get to Spain in a hurry without using fossil fuels.

How about dog sleigh over the Bearing straits? Then on the train, they are allowed for some reason, across Siberia, into Europe and on to Iberia?

The sea has frozen nice and solid so it is do-able.
