Young activists are leading the charge to combat climate change.

"Spurred on by Thunberg, young campaigners are calling for adults to join in a mass global climate strike on September 20, in a bid to force politicians and business leaders to act immediately. In the meantime, Fridays For Future strikes are continuing to take place every week and there’s a Youth Climate Action camp taking place in Germany in August – an indication of just how organised the youth movement is.
As well as taking part in coordinated action, a new generation has been inspired to look at specific issues relating to the climate crisis that are important to them. Here, Thunberg and seven other activists around the world, from Mexico to Uganda, share the reasons they are campaigning and the vital steps we can all take now to tackle the climate crisis."

There the young activits inspire people of all ages to take action.

'Under the banner Parents for the Future, 34 groups from 16 countries on four continents have issued an open letter. It demands urgent action to fight climate change and prevent temperatures rising by more than 1.5C, beyond which scientists say droughts, floods and heatwaves will get significantly worse.
“What our kids are telling us is what science has been telling us for many years – there is no time left,” the letter says. “We now owe it to them to act.”

“Parents – we are everywhere in society: in classrooms as teachers, in fields as farmers, in factories as workers, in hospitals as healers, in boardrooms as CEOs, in legislatures as policymakers,” it says. “We have the power to build this safe, just and clean future for our kids.”'

Demanding someone else do something and proclaiming one is a true believer on the internet are simply masturbatory. Bashing their cellphones and never replacing them would be more productive.

The global flight industry are also scared of the global climate movement.

"This summer, U.S. airlines have enjoyed booming flight demand, immune to a Swedish-born “flight shaming” movement that has hit air travel in Europe, where environmentally conscious travelers are choosing trains over planes.

But the head of global lobby International Air Transport Association (IATA) says the environmental challenge, which he called the biggest threat to the airline industry in Europe, “will probably come to other parts of the world, especially North America.”

“If you believe or think that the environmental concern is a world concern touching everyone on the planet (...) there’s no reason to believe that other young people won’t react,” Alexandre de Juniac told journalists on Tuesday."

Sailing team to fly 2 crew to US to bring Thunberg boat back | NEWS10 ABC

"A spokeswoman for Team Malizia said it’ll be necessary to fly the crew to the U.S. because the high-profile trip with the 16-year-old Swedish campaigner that left Plymouth on Wednesday was arranged at very short notice.

Holly Cova told The Associated Press by email Friday that “we only have one boat, so they cannot easily sail over to meet them.”

Hypocrisy in action!

For a number of years, the conventional wisdom*, given the imprimatur of the fossil fuel industry, was that renewable-energy processes, notably wind and solar, were not economically justifiable. It was true then. The most recent data shows that the price of renewable energy has dropped and is now competitive. It continues to drop.

It will be interesting to see how that is handled by the fossil fuel folks.

* A tip o' the hat to Mr. John Kenneth Galbraith.

Funny how it appears, the hand of Gaia, shows the folly of liberal activists.

Reminds me of the ship that got stuck in ice, where they sailed, because all the ice was melting.

When will they learn, you can't fool Mother Nature.

That we can all can do our part and take climate action.

"The future hasn’t already been decided. That is, climate change is an inescapable present and future reality, but the point of the IPCC report is that there is still a chance to seize the best-case scenario rather than surrender to the worst. Natan Sharansky, who spent nine years in a gulag for his work with Soviet dissident Andrei Sakharov, recalls his mentor saying: “They want us to believe there’s no chance of success. But whether or not there’s hope for change is not the question. If you want to be a free person, you don’t stand up for human rights because it will work, but because it is right. We must continue living as decent people.” Right now living as decent people means every one of us with resources taking serious climate action, or stepping up what we’re already doing.

Climate action is human rights, because climate change affects the most vulnerable first and hardest – it already has, with droughts, fires, floods, crop failures. It affects the myriad species and habitats that make this earth such an intricately beautiful place, from the coral reefs to the caribou herds. What we’re deciding now is what life will be like for the kids born this year who will be 82 in 2100, and their grandchildren, and their grandchildren’s grandchildren. They will curse the era that devastated the planet, and perhaps they’ll bless the memory of those who tried to limit this destruction. The report says we need to drop fossil fuel consumption by 45% by 2030, when these kids will be 12. That’s a difficult but not impossible proposition."

NYC students are allowed to take part in the global climate strike.

"Climate advocates celebrated Thursday after New York City's public school system announced it would excuse the absences of students who have a parent's permission to participate in the global climate strike on Friday, Sept. 20.

"Holy cow!" tweeted Bill McKibben, a co-founder 350.org. The environmental group is helping plan a week of action that will feature thousands of events around the world to coincide with a United Nations climate summit in New York City.

Another 350.org co-founder, Jamie Henn, also welcomed the NYC announcement on Twitter Thursday. He wrote, "holy smokes, this thing could get HUGE."

The NYC Public Schools account explained in a series of tweets that younger students will only be allowed to leave school for the climate strike if they are accompanied by a parent and promised to share guidance with the city's schools and promote class discussions about the climate crisis."

That there are many ways to support the global climate strike. That nobody can do everything but everyone can do something.

'If you want to strike, first, you should understand what it means for you and your job; depending on your occupation, like some state employees, a strike may be considered illegal. As Vice suggests, you might initially suggest to a supervisor to close their doors for the day (or even just a couple of hours) to honor the strike. “Probably this won’t be successful if you work for a large corporation like Chase Bank or Walmart,” Geoff Dembicki writes for Vice. “But small businesses like coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and clothing stores could be receptive. The same goes for medium-size office workplaces.”

Alternatively, use your lunch break to join a local demonstration; you should check out the Strike With Us’ website to find nearby events. Depending on your location, Climate Strike events might be taking place throughout the week, too. And if calling out sick is out of the question, you can donate to organizations like the US Youth Climate Strike (all proceeds will go toward future strikes and initiatives according to their GoFundMe page). And make a public statement of support on social media and help amplify the strike’s message.'

How to Support the Global Climate Strike

What do you mean?
The state pays the school districts ~$109 per day per of recorded school attendance,
if the students are not in attendance, the school does not get the money.
This is the real reason that truancy is enforced!
If say 10,000 students are allowed to skip for this event, the district should not be paid for that day,
the Teachers and staff still need to be paid though.
So the district's decision could cost them over a million dollars for that 1 day.
Someone should loose their job over loosing a million dollars in district income.

The city of Oxford in UK will participate in the global climate this Friday.

Young activists who have been taking part in school strikes over the climate crisis will be joined by adults when they walk out on Friday. The entire city of Oxford – and surrounding areas in Oxfordshire – will go on strike to draw attention to the environment and call for the government to act. Being hailed the UK’s ‘first general strike since 1926’, those taking part say that for the first time school children will strike together with adults to ‘take action against climate breakdown’. Those in Oxford join towns and cities in more than 150 countries holding strikes on Friday, inspired and supported by teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg.

Young people have like anybody else a right to make their voices heard. There it is young people that will be hurt most by climate change because they will be force to live with the devastating effects for most of their lives. There the devastating effects will get more and more severe as they get older if action is not taken right now.

There even federal agencies under Donald Trump like NASA, warns about the devastating effects climate change will have on the US.

"Northeast. Heat waves, heavy downpours and sea level rise pose growing challenges to many aspects of life in the Northeast. Infrastructure, agriculture, fisheries and ecosystems will be increasingly compromised. Many states and cities are beginning to incorporate climate change into their planning.

Northwest. Changes in the timing of streamflow reduce water supplies for competing demands. Sea level rise, erosion, inundation, risks to infrastructure and increasing ocean acidity pose major threats. Increasing wildfire, insect outbreaks and tree diseases are causing widespread tree die-off.

Southeast. Sea level rise poses widespread and continuing threats to the region’s economy and environment. Extreme heat will affect health, energy, agriculture and more. Decreased water availability will have economic and environmental impacts.

Midwest. Extreme heat, heavy downpours and flooding will affect infrastructure, health, agriculture, forestry, transportation, air and water quality, and more. Climate change will also exacerbate a range of risks to the Great Lakes.

Southwest. Increased heat, drought and insect outbreaks, all linked to climate change, have increased wildfires. Declining water supplies, reduced agricultural yields, health impacts in cities due to heat, and flooding and erosion in coastal areas are additional concerns."

Why school funding in New York is still a major fight
Cuomo contends that in Rochester, for example, poorer schools get $18,000 per student while wealthier schools get $26,000 within the same district.
$18,000 per student for 180 day school year is $100 dollars per day per student, they do not get paid for the students to not be there.
