Heat waves, mosquito outbreaks, landslides

You Americans do seem to have an overload of democracy. Balance in everything.

The democracy isn't so much a problem. The problem is most people don't research things, and who has the most media coverage gets what they want.

The ignorance runs deep in our country.

Good democracy has always required good structure to democratic decision making. The plebicite should only be very rarely used. We elect politicians to do the labourous stuff required to make good laws. Detail should be left to them.

Egods! Global warming will cause seal levels to rise, plants to die, humans to get cancer, husbands to divorce their wives, and republicans to win elections! Planet earth is doomed unless the US government designates more billions of dollars in grants to leftist liberals promoting the idea that humans can change the weather. There is a sucker born every minute.

Dumb post of the week. Claim your award at the front desk.

I agree - we have made tremendous strides in cutting emissions and continue to do so. Drive between Reno, NV and Salt Lake City, UT and consider that entire area was a sea at one time. Climate change happens and has happened for eons. We have enough smart people around that will help us survive and thrive.

Earth’s climate is now changing faster than at any point in the history of modern civilization, primarily as a result of human activities. The impacts of global climate change are already being felt in the United States and are projected to intensify in the future—but the severity of future impacts will depend largely on actions taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt to the changes that will occur.

I would like you to find the paper that says that. I'll lay odds no such paper they source actually says that.

Hurt people?

You need to unpack that as I have never seen even a hint of an intent to hurt anyone.

Look, I don' give a fiddler's **** what you call it, I am not in the debate whether man made or natural (it sure the **** anything "natural" I have seen in 70 years), but I do care that California is burning and we, this far north can smell the ****ing smoke. Here, we have "monster" fires every year now. 40 years ago no one had ever heard of a "crossoever fire" where a wildfire burns down whole towns, now it's fifteen, twenty a year.

Inuits in the north have lost their land. And entire island where they would encamp for summer is gone, several meters under water. North of me, less than an hour's drive there is a logging road and if you know about it will continue when it looks like it ends and you will climb a very steep slope and when the trees clear there is a glacier, 100 meters thick, covering 237 hectares. Or rather there WAS a glacier covering 237 hectares....today it is a small lake with nothing alive in it, as with most melted glaciers the water is heavily saline.

Meanwhile, where we could once have walked any stream in the lower mainland and scooped up Sockeye with our bare hands, there "closed fisheries" now and concerns that salmon are becoming extinct. Imagine that, the world's most prolific fish and food source for hundreds of animals...gone.

So I don't give a rats ass about what Americans THINK. All I know is your country is at least as filthy as ours, but now you won't even talk about measures to try to clean it up.

Unsupported hyperbole.

• The economic impact of regulatory compliance is severe; according to the U.S. Small
Business Administration, it can account for 8 percent of U.S. gross domestic product.
This includes the cost of labor, opportunity cost, as well as the regulator infrastructure.

The US GDP is just under 20 Trillion Dollars.

whew boy- this climate change stuff is getting SCAREY. I heard Al Gore even went a whole hour last summer without air conditioning his mega mansion!

No AC for AG?

Doesn't sound likely.

It seems like a reference to "still waters run deep" could be applied here, but I just can't figure out how to do it. :)

For your convenience, I've highlighted the words in your post that are not specific in any way.

You mean experts that wouldn't have a job if they didn't continue creating fear and panic amongst the people paying their salaries? :lamo

Simple - the statement is compilation of IPCC AR4 and AR5. But it's typical that you offer no refute other than the normal Climatologist conspiracy theory.

Climatologist Conspiracy Theory. Perhaps you should also study the Flat Earth conspiracy.

In the US, it's been two years under Trump as POTUS. He thinks AGW is a hoax. It's odd that all these American scientists who are all supposedly corrupt and on the "gubmint gravy boat" and only "say what they are paid to say", haven't turned around and said they were wrong and that human activity is not responsible for global warming or that global warming isn't even happening. They are still saying the same thing about AGW they have for decades only with much more detail and higher certainty. Doesn't matter what political leaning the various governments have had. Same all over the world in other countries when governments change.

Climate truther conspiracy theorists aren't very smart are they?

Their compilations are cherry picked from material.

Like I just said, Climate truther conspiracy theorists aren't very smart.

See, the funny thing is that exact form of argument is used against any scientist that argues against AGW - "he's being paid by the petro industry". Turnabout is fair play.

But if you follow the grant money, you will find that more than 99 times the money goes to show AGW, than for unbiased studies, or studies showing natural causes are greatest.
