If people were truly concerned about CO2 emissions, they would be backing these small modular reactors.
They have the possibility of replacing the heat source for most of the coal plants in the world.

Yes, but what would the added security costs be that would be required for each reactor... They would make great terrorist targets.

I think these reactors are designed to solidify into a solid lump of salt if they stop flowing and overheat.

How are they protected from a terrorist attack, that would turn it into a dirty bomb like weapon?

I am not sure, but I think the fuel is sealed inside the reactor.

The terror targets already exist with the hundreds of nuclear power plants in existence. In fact, these reactors in development will reportedly lower costs while having a zero carbon emissions. Democrats tend not to support nuclear because they envision a world of renewable energy types like solar and wind. Nuclear is the easiest answer, though. We could solve the CO2 emission problems very quickly if we just built more nuclear power plants. For this new nuclear technology, apparently it's going to take about two more years to develop, but we're not far away.

Both because of the small size, and the physical transport requirement for coal plants,
I could see these transitioning coal plants first. All coal plants have ether water access, or rail access.
If these small reactors for fit on a rail car, they could have special births for them to fit in, and send them back to the factory for refueling.
