Why a category 5 hurricane would be devastating for North Carolina

Hurricanes don't commit until they 15-20 hours from landfall.

You say that as if you believe the hurricane makes a decision.

They can change in the last hours. Hurricane Charley in 2004 was forecast to go right into Tampa Bay (where I lived at the time) Instead it took a hard right turn into arcadia, 100 miles south (where I now live) Here is video of the damage (remember, just wind damage) This was a fast moving cat 4
