Leading Democrats demand Trump do something to help poor families.. but

To make my battery powered tools most useful requires the ability to quickly swap discharged batteries with (pre-)charged batteries. The problem is that an EV's (Tesla S) batteries, while offering decent range on a single (re-)charge, weigh about 1,200 lbs. (and cost ???) making that option unlikely.

https://www.fleetcarma.com/electric-vehicle-charging-guide/

That doesn't seem like a complete dealbreaker to me. There is, after all, always the easier option of just being able to switch from one battery to the next by literally flipping a switch that changes which battery is powering the car.

That would require carrying a lot (1/2 ton or more) of dead weight in the vehicle - hardly the key to more energy efficient travel. Perhaps a solution would be to have powered EV (toll?) lanes, sort of like a slot car race track, where the EV could run on an external power source (while also recharging its batteries?) thus conserving the EV's onboard battery power for use only where such special EV lanes are not available.

And wouldn't that be ironic - the automotive industry intentionally destroying electric trolleys only to eventually replace them with essentially the same damn thing...

But in seriousness, I agree with you on the issue of weight (and likely space). That, combined with the current short range of batteries, is why EVs are simply not practical for most people (not to mention the outrageous cost to switch and general inconvenience - it takes literally hours to do what current ICEs can do in minutes: fuel up).

I think the poor get disproportionately harmed when they raise the minimum wage,
(another type of market manipulation) because it causes the costs of all goods and services to increase.
For people in the upper income brackets, the increase is no big deal, but for the poor, it can radically
effect the type of lifestyle they can afford.

I think it's the middle class that gets harmed by increases. It's the excess of low skill labor that hurts the lower class. We simply don't have enough jobs that require low skilled employees. Fact is, we don't have enough jobs in most employment sectors for our people. It is trade imbalances that cause our loss of wages. Wages can be directly tied to the supply of people vs. the demand for labor as probably the most significant variable.

We need to halt illegal immigration and focus on balancing trade. If we can do this, America will once again be great. Right now, we are is a scary downhill spiral to doom.

The Bolt runs 200 miles? From all that I've read, it seems that GM is working with utility companies and other agencies to expand necessary infrastructure. That should revolutionize the market.
It is a good move. The more companies expand on this, the more affordable the vehicles and the fill up. I'm all for it, but against forcing the cart before the horse. It won't do the most vulnerable of us no good.

At least GM is doing it at their desire, and not silly mandates by governments.

Most of the minimum wage increases do not go to poor people. According to the fed most go to middle class families.

I think you will find that the effects of such an influx of low wage decently educated and hard working lowish skilled people that has happened over the last 30 years with the opening of China will suddenly change to a world where the supply of such types dries up. This will be a very big shock to the world and will cause a significant wage increase for the middle and lower classes.

And a sudden development of Africa.

The goal of the higher prices by the Environmental wing is to reduce the use of said Carbon fuels to save the earth, nominally. Yet when that actually hits voters who scream for relief, the environmental goals are no longer important. Funny that eh?

Agreed, combating climate change at this point seems more important than subsidizing rural and exurban lifestyle choices.

Climate, changes. Might as well crusade to stop the tide from turning or the sun from rising in the east.

Are they allowing cannabis edibles in the government now?

Who ever put that out must be high. The middle class is not composed of minimum wage workers.

///

how hypocritical it is to demand higher taxes for gas and electricity and then demand something be done about the higher prices of said items.

/// Funny that eh?

It's depressing, but true. Always pretending to be on the side of the poor, these Marxists are rich hypocrites and liars, intent on raising taxes for everybody, raising energy costs for everybody, giving more money to the failed public education system, where more money has bought worse results for five straight decades.

Everything Democrats touch turns to crap, and they keep on foisting their same tired Marxism and pretensions on everyone, using class warfare, race warfare, divisiveness, and dishonesty. Evil is like that.

Hansen has done some fantastic research, but my god. He can be such a twit. Science is suppose to be neutral and skeptical. Not biased and unquestioned.
