Erie, Pennsylvania, Has Broken Its All-Time Snow Season Record

And there are lots of other examples of increased snowfall this winter from all over the world.

But bona fide climate science predictions about the end of snow have been pushed off into the future.

A group of government climate scientists in Hawaii predict an end of snow on peaks of Hawaiian volcanos (it's normal for snow to fall there) by the end of this century.

Another group at UCLA predicts a reduction of snow in the Sierras by the end of the century. Link

Also, an Irish group of government climate scientists makes a similar claim.

We no longer seem to have these moments where scientists and advocates predict the end of snow in 5 years. That sort of thing hasn't been working out for them.

It's safe enough for them to predict that there will be no snow in 70 years. They'll all probably be retired by them.

A coworker once said the biggest problem with Y2K, was that it came with an expiration date!

We had a 2 inch predicted storm deliver almost 9 inches of snow over a day a month or so ago. Not the record for our area, but it was unusual to get that much out of one wave. It was after the arctic vortex issue had moved back north so it didn't stick around long.

..and we've had the warmest winter I can remember. What's your point?? It's WEATHER and it CHANGES.

That reminded me of a story my uncle told me about the Y2K glitch with computers. His work's IT person had been ill and never installed the patch so when they came in, a program the whole company needed to use wouldn't work and people were freaking out. Ten minutes later he was at his desk working away and his exacerbated boss wanted to know how that was possible. "I just reset the date on my computer to last year and now it works fine."

I was discussing the issue presented in the OP. I have no idea what your statement with CAPS has to do with my statement since it was obvious I was discussing weather. Do you need to DECLARE the SUN RISES IN THE EAST!!!!? as well?

I think the valid concerns were many old programs had been written (and complied) with cobol,
using a 2 digit date code, so 2000 looks like year 00, instead of the year after 99.
I heard they paid big bonuses for the refinery workers on that Dec 31 1999 shift.

Their software was installed on individual computers and they shared a database so all it took was resetting the date until IT guy could come install the patch on each desktop. The database wasn't affected other than the dates for when things were done were off for those few days.

How about posting some recent weather stories from Australia?

How many times do we have to talk about the difference between weather and climate? How many idiot Republicans are going to preach to Congress that a snowball from someone's yard disproves Climate Change? (And a little hint, Climate is always in shift... there has never been a time in all of Earth's history that climate reach some point and never changed again.)

Increased snow... FFS.

Who predicted "the end of snow in 5 years?"

Give them some credit the Global Change crew is "working on your behalf to end weather".

Sea ice still continues to decline in both polar regions. Alaska is seeing less snow. Meanwhile, the cold temperatures norm is now in lower latitudes in our US. That's just one way global warming works. We must be the number country at politicizing scientific facts.

Let's search the world for some atypical weather and claim it's caused by the "evil doings" of men! WTF?

I thought the world was rid of such primitive superstitions with the dawn of the enlightenment some 300 years ago. Apparently only conservatives have severed this umbilical link to the primitive past; the olden days of "belief" that you lefty's like to call "progressive"

The two favorite Y2K glitches happened way around the different, Back in 1999, the state of Vermont issued titles for year 2000 cars, and the titles labeled the cars as 'horseless carriages'.

In 2016, a bunch of people who were deceased, and WOULD have been 118 in 2018 got notices to remember to sign up for selective services when they were 18.

Sea ice is a ridiculous thermometer. Glacial calving and precipitation are both the progenitors of sea ice and neither have any direct relationship with minute temperature variations.

The SMB (surface mass budget) of glacial ice is increasing by hundreds of billions of tons annually. SMB is annual accumulation minus annual melt and its all positive

Wake op and smell the coffee; this global warming scam is raking trillions of dollars from those who give it legitimacy as well as those of us who know better.

Yeah, shame on me for thinking that pumping gigatonnes (plural) of CO2 into the atmosphere year after year after year (from a source that Nature never had to contend with before) just might change the chemistry of our atmosphere...and that as the chemical makeup of our atmosphere changes, that it might actually affect the weather.

Gee, what was I thinking! Of COURSE we can crap in our global crib as much as we want to and it will never begin to stink!

P.S. Concerning the gigatonnes of CO2, every gallon of gasoline burned produces 20 pounds of CO2 that blends in with our atmosphere. If we go with a conservative estimate that people use only about 15 gallons of gas in their vehicles per week, every week of the year, that's 15,600 pounds of CO2 pumped in our atmosphere by each car...and there's about a half billion cars operating in the world today. That's about 3.9 billion tons of CO2 added to our atmosphere, every single year, from automobiles alone. That does NOT include semis and farm equipment and trains and ships and military vehicles and - another big one - factories.

But you go on ahead now and tell yourself that no matter how much we literally change the chemical makeup of our atmosphere, there's no way that it could do what the vast majority of the world's scientific community is telling you.

Do you have any idea how tiny giga-tons are when using it as a measure of global scale. We have "pumped" one part in ten thousand of CO2 into the air since the industrial revolution. (nothing)

CO2 is not poison but the breath of life for all hydrocarbon life forms on Earth which is pretty much the same as 100% of all life on Earth.

We are not "pumping CO2" any more than whales are "pumping whale crap into the oceans. C02 is not pollution but instead is the primary food source of all life on Earth on the land and in the oceans.

In the seas its CO2 ---> Phytoplankton----->krill---------> (and so forth up the food chain.) The polar waters are the most prolific and abundant in sea life of all waters on Earth ONLY because t colder polar waters holds far more CO2 (fish food) in solution.

On the land it's the same story where grasses and trees (including all food grain crops, fruit trees, and vegetables) are literally starving for more CO2, why do you think it's only a trace gas?

CO2 is assimilated rapidly by the eco-system of the Earth which depends on it of survival:

Have a look:

Greenhouse_Gases.jpg

Now you know why greenhouses add CO2 to the the indoor air to help get their plants growing. In addition, more CO2 means more drought resistant crops and the Earth has had as much as 20 times as much CO2 as today's near starvation levels of CO2, contributing to increased desertification.

So lemme understand....

The imaginary predictions from scientists haven’t come true, so you’re pretending the actual predictions also can’t come true because some areas of the world got a lot of snow this winter.

Congratulations on this outstanding example of the Dunning Kruger effect.

You sure know stuff!
