So, we saw this today, and it starts with a young girl admonishing mankind for ruining the earth, and how "This problem was bigger than any one nation..."

Follow on the most ludicrous of sci-fi weather is magic ala "The Day after tomorrow" events you'll ever see. Some brotherly drama that's forced, a romance that's silly, a young girl whose written like she's thirty...

And for a movie supposedly about "science" and the amazing things we could do as "one world" they forget about this thing called the Kessler syndrome. If you have the misfortune of viewing this film, you'll see what I am saying.

Anyway, it was predictable plotwise, and why it's HERE in this forum, this review, is the HEAVY HANDED preaching the movie does. One world, Global Warming is a Global Threat yadda yadda yadda.

I laughed at most of the weather events, it was really a bad flick.

My Wife and I see a lot of Movies, when they get too formulaic, I tell my wife, "it's like it writes itself!"

So you went to a movie with a plot that was about climate change... and you're complaining that it was about climate change?

Obviously, since this is not a documentary, it's going to have a bunch of Hollywood OTT in it. That's a given. This is fictional universe climate change, not a PBS special about our real and present earth, in the same way that CSI Miami isn't really supposed to accurately reflect the real world Miami PD. It's fictionalized for entertainment.

But if you didn't want to watch a movie about climate change, why did you go to a movie about climate change?

No no, I wasn't expecting it to be anything less then silly, I enjoy silly. The heavy handedness of movie was really REALLY bad though.

How were the special effects?

How were the special effects?

Not that bad to be honest, but a little stilted. The people suffered the "Matrix effect", there is that beach scene you see the in previews, as they follow the running crowd it becomes REALLY obvious they are all CGI.

Twister still did tornadoes better though.

But it's ABOUT climate change. How could it be heavy handed when that is the entire premise of the movie? That's its plot, dude.

S&M, there is heavy handed and there is HEAVY HANDED, it wasn't just about AGW, it was about one world government, it was about America is a threat to the world...

Yes, that movie was a total joke when it comes to science.

But...

It was in the script!

Yeah- they probably had crazy predictions like hurricanes taking 90 degree turns.

I've worked in the industry for 700 years and I've never seen a hurricane change direction like that. Except for the majority of hurricanes change direction like that. But that is based on adjusted data that we can't trust. I believe the correct analysis are my own observations looking out a plane window for 20 minutes. It appeared to move down and then over, then over some more, couldn't have been more than 13 degrees of a turn by my calculations.

And I’m sure your high school science classes plus your technical training has made you educated enough to know that most climate scientists don’t know as much as you do.

Until you feel the wind and rain from a hurricane in the field, your hypotheses's cannot be verified. What some spend 10 years learning, those of us actually doing the work learned in our first year.
