What about globally?

Renewables accounted for 70 percent of net additions to global power generating capacity in 2017.

https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-...ergy-installed-in-2017-research-idUKKCN1IZ0YL

While in for example India the cost of renewables have fallen with 50 percent in two years and start to outcompete fossil fuels.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/energy...ts-more-than-new-wind-and-solar/#5261c8664c0f

You also see positive examples then it comes to other sectors like for example transportation. There electric cars are getting more and more competitive.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...y-be-cheaper-than-gas-guzzlers-in-seven-years

While in Norway over half new cars in 2017 was electric or hybrids.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...ar-sales-now-electric-or-hybrid-idUSKBN1ES0WC

In Sweden you also have road trials with electrified roads.

https://www.thelocal.se/20180413/worlds-first-electric-road-opens-in-sweden

That the transition away from fossil fuel is possible and need to speed up. There a big hurdle is the huge influence the fossil fuel companies still have over our societies. Like for example how gas companies spent 100 million on lobbying to keep EU dependent on fossil fuels.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...-in-to-fossil-fuels-for-decades-a8028056.html

You also have the Trump administration that wants to spend billions of dollar propping up dirty coal plants.

Point is, now that we have renewable energy, why are there still new coal plants being built?

The transition away from the fossil fuel takes times even if you have a lot of positive example from around the world. For example that UK have drastically reduced its coal consumption and will close it last coal plant in 2025.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2018/jan/05/uk-coal-fired-power-plants-close-2025

So it therefor very bad that the transition away from fossil fuels didn’t started sooner. There a big reason for that is the massive disinformation campaigns and lobbying from the fossil fuel companies.

[h=2]Greens want to put you in jail for seven years for burning coal after 2030[/h]
[h=3]Let’s lock up the whole country[/h]You can’t make this stuff up.
[h=1]Greens want to make burning coal a crime[/h]The Greens want Australians to start treating coal like asbestos, with the minor party announcing its policy to make the energy resource illegal.
Yes, because asbestos kills people, which is a lot like coal which saves lives, feeds plants, keeps us warm and earns us $23 billion dollars a year. (And that’s just thermal coal).
Greens MP Adam Bandt outlined the policy on Friday in Hobart, which makes it illegal to dig, burn or ship thermal coal from 2030.
Individuals and corporations could face up to seven years’ jail for using thermal coal after that date, the Greens propose.
[h=4]Life is death, money is poverty, and fires are a secret code from Gaia:[/h][h=3] Greens policy would outlaw thermal coal as it is ‘no longer compatible’ with human life[/h]Against the backdrop of catastrophic destruction in California, Bandt will tell his audience Australia’s biggest chance of avoiding climate catastrophe is by ceasing coal exports. — The Guardian
The Greens are a danger to the nation. They’re killing people through stone-age reasoning.
It’s an anti-science theology that ignores the evidence and unquestioningly lauds unaccountable foreign committees.
Whoever you vote for at the next election don’t vote informal and lose your chance to put The Greens last.

One example of that the transition takes time is that you sadly still have coal power plants and other fossil fuel plants being built. While cost of renewables continue to drop so hopefully you will soon see the end of building new coal plants and other fossil fuel plants.

While if you for example look at India there are not planning to build any more power coal plants besides those under construction. That they will instead will meet the enormous need for electricity through renewable energy. While existing coal plants are also started to become outcompeted by renewables. It can also be good to remember that India’s C02 pollutions are only around half of US.

Of course you should stop building new fossil fuel plants. Especially since the economic case for fossil fuels is crumbling.

Global warming alarmists are such shills for specific types of energy (such as wind and solar) they choose it's not even funny, when other types of energy can deal with the problem of global warming much better. I mean, wind energy is utter trash. It's completely unreliable and produces very little energy. It's not going to be scalable at all, either.

Once again, your comprehension for facts is lacking. They are a developing nation. They are using very dirty sources of energy. The technology is there to modernize their technology, and stop building dirty power. None of their new power plants should be dirtier than out existing clean coal technology. They should be building the latest technology, not 40 year old technology. They should be buiding more solar and wind since you guys keep claiming it's cheaper.

Why do you guys allow them to be bad world ecology players, and demand we don't do enough?

Do you hate the USA?

Think about what their "per capita output" of COI2 and pollution will be when they have almost 100% of their population using power like we do!
