Trump Greenlights Killing Whales and Turtles

He should start with his own Cabinet

Saying he greenlights the killing of whales and turtles is extremely misleading, and borderline just false.
The article says he rejects a new rule that effects less than 20 fishing vessels that utilize a special net for catching swordfish. Basically the rule puts it on hold for 2 seasons only *if* too many whales, turtles, dolphins are caught. In actuality if there are no increases in how many whales are incidentally caught in the nets during swordfish fishing; then the rule would not have applied anyways.

I am not a trump fan, but misleading headlines (maybe you didn't even read the article and just saw the articles title) are why the faux news is getting out of control.

To be fair, Trump is a douche bag for doing this. It may not have a negative effect on the industry if there is no increase in whales, dolphins or sea turtles caught in the nets at the same time. The rule only applies if the nets used do start to effect the whale population.

i read the article. And, I am aware of the details in it. But, my take: He's greenlighting the killing of whales and turtles.

What difference does that make?
For the article to be factual, Trump would have to be removing a rule already in effect,
If the rule was not in effect, he would not be removing anything!

Logic fail. He is removing a rule from the books.

dont bait with deceptive titles

He does greenlight the killing of whales and turtles. What else do you think this act does?

You are right, not click bait, deceptive Propaganda.

Cutting a useless ineffective yet costly job killing environmental regulation does not mean Trump wants all the animals to die.

This is similar to when someone in the GOP mentions looking at how and how much tax dollars are spent on food stamps, Leftist propagandist start screaming "they want all the poor children to starve!"

From the OP link
"The Pacific Fishery Management Council, which includes representatives of the fishing industry as well as state and tribal governments and federal regulators, had proposed the rule in 2015.
Rejecting it, the National Marine Fisheries Service decided that safety measures already taken by the fishing industry, such as putting pinging warning devices on the nets that could be heard by some of the creatures, were working to drastically cut the numbers of whales and turtles becoming tangled in the nets, Milstein said.
"The bottom line is this is a fishery that's worked hard to reduce its impact," Milstein said.

Seems the industry is working to help protect the species in question. Another rule would not help.

What does the new reg do? Stops the accidental killing of whales and turtles.

What does Trump repealing the new reg do? Allows the accidental killing of whales and turtles to continue.

Hence, Trump greenlights killing of whales and turtles.

smh

By that logic when Obama on his first day in office eliminated schools vouchers for poor African-Americans kids he was green lighting them to get substandard educations and be killed in the extremely dangerous public schools.

Obama's actual motive returning a corrupt political favors to teachers unions.

Trump is eliminating useless job killing regulations and there is no evidence he is personally profiting from this. Post #16 on this thread explains how this regulation is useless.

Already done. No need for overregulation.

You forgot. It is not what is greenlighted. It is who does it.

I would say that is a fair take on him doing that.

I agree, that was a foul move. Shame on him

It is just part of the new rule in the Trump administration. What would a dick do? Allow killing of whales so we can poison ourselves with mercury laden swordfish that's what.

Yes, I agree.

When headlines are so misleading, then none of the article should be valued. If someone gets curious, they need some serious fact checking instead of taking the word of someone who lies in the headlines.
