22 GOP senators want US to pull out of Paris climate accord | Fox News

Only 22 Republican Senators signed this letter to Trump back in May. Twenty-two Senators out of 100. And FOX views this as a Republican victory. And Trump acts on this slim minority. Pathetic.

And SURPRISE - SURPRISE! You don't think big Fossil Fuel money is behind this - THINK AGAIN!

Most of the senators who signed are from states that depend on the continued burning of coal, oil and gas. That includes Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Inhofe and others who, like Trump, have suggested the scientific data showing the Earth is warming due to man-made carbon emissions is a hoax.

It's not surprising that Trump's ratings retreated from the low 40 percentile last week to the mid-30s again. The Republican Party continues to show that they don't give a hoot about ordinary American citizens. They are there to serve the Plutarchs and Oligarchs.

If Paris is such an obvious great thing maybe the citizens would think so and maybe Congress would affirm it and maybe it would have become law.

For the admin's push to roll back environmental regulations.

Though 30 GOP senators will try to talk out of both sides of their mouth on Paris, they will all be held accountable .

Wow. You can tell that this was really important to liberals that's why they demanded a vote in the Senate...

Oh no wait, that never happened, even when the Dems held a SUPERMAJORITY in Congress.

Talking about talking out of both sides of one's mouth. ..

The majority of citizens and Senators do think so...but apparently they were over ruled by a minority of 20 Senators with connections to the coal industry. There's a lot in the Paris Accord that was already US law.

Do you realize how pathetic that makes the Democrats look? You should stop while your behind.

What is most concering I find is the use Germany is making of it. Merkel is trying to form a coalition from China to Mexico and weaving it together with the trade and military stance the US is projecting right now. She used the word "multipolar" in place of "multilateral" to describe the activity according to Deutschlandfunk in Mexico, which is confrontational and no longer friendly.

This has been made much easier for her by Trump's inexpetienced and rude rumblings, of course, and it must have been being planned for quite a while considering the vigorous speed with which she is unrolling her activities. But our media are strengthening her hand by demonizing instead of explaining the sense behind and limits to the US policies. In Europe US media are being quoted to provide evidence of the danger America presents to Europe.

Well Obama did go to her and beg her to try to save the world from Trump, remember that.....With the USA that much a wreck the time for getting is now.

Once upon a time what Obama did would have been considered treason.

Yeah not a lot of people realize that the Paris Accord crap was not actually necessary in the first place, plenty of the US population is capable of doing over half the crap they want. The only unfortunate part is that they wanted to snip off our economies balls almost on day one, and then just force us to pay to stay in their stupid little club.

The only thing I can say is that it was an "agreement" not a binding contract. So Trump what was perfectly in his power to do.

Obama seems to me deeply disturbing and divisive as is the radical break with American traditions of tolerance and the Constitutiinal consensus of the liberal movement.

But of possibly much worse middle term danger was his total disregard of realistic foreign policy. He not only ran down the standing of the country and risked an implosion thereof in consequence of poorly fashioned treaties that were not bipartisan nor even confirmed by the Senate, when they would later have to be put in doubt. He also did nothing to restructure the global system of security and so wasted the window of opportunity Bush had nudged open and worse still crucial years that such a project requires.

I wouldn't talk if I were you.

Even though its not binding, as per the rules of agreement a member country can only withdraw five years after it goes into effect plus a one year notice of withdrawal. That means the US is still party to the agreement until 2020...and Trump will be gone by then.

And refused to hear the warning to restructure failing global institutions on the financial side. Time wasted, little done, what was done was either done poorly or should have never been done....As he serenaded us with his smug lectures, which lot's of folks loved, his skin tone certainly helping because Americans are certainly shallow like that.

Senators are elected by the people they represent. Doing something that your constituents are in favor of is exactly what a senator is supposed to do.

Then why do we need to be in it? Oh yeah, they want our money. No thanks.

:coffeepap:yawn: Just more unsubstantiated "fossil fuel money" BS. Did it occur to you that voters in fossil fuel states might be important? the Paris treaty was a feckless waste of time and money. These 22 Senators deserve the thanks of a grateful nation.

Well, you see, we do not judge success by how many GOP senators signed a letter backing our pulling out of the accord. More then half of the GOP senators are establishment RINO wusses anyway. We judge success just by the fact that Trump did pull us out of the Paris Accord.

Let me see if I understand what you are upset about.

Obama entered into an illegal treaty in violation of the law and because only 22 Senators asked to get out of the illegal treaty, you feel that there is some corruption afoot now.

Apparently, you see nothing wrong with the illegality of the treaty. Is this the case?

Full text of the clause[edit]
[The President] shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur...

Don't you just love Merkel.

She's like a petulant child who is rebelling against Daddy.

NATO is an alliance to hold back Russia. Without the US, it's a tea club.

What is the punitive measure that Trump will consent to in the voluntary accord that he will ignore?

The biggest economy is the third largest polluter?

Sounds like we're doing pretty good!
