Heres an awesome Snopes article on some newspaper clippings that clearly signal the danger of use of coal and the eventual warming of the planet because of greenhouse gas generation.

I thought this was pretty cool that the basic science was being communicated over 100 years ago.

Yes, that's quite fascinating. However, although the principle of the greenhouse effect had already been established then, it wasn't until the work of people like Callendar, Plass and Keeling in the 1940s, 50s and 60s that the effect was accurately quantified and the theory gained widespread acceptance in the scientific world. Interestingly, Plass also predicted that the colder parts of the ice ages would correspond to periods of low atmospheric CO2. This was later proved to be correct by ice core studies.

Although in this early 1912 'model', it predicted bad consequences in a couple hundred years - around 2100.

And that's the same conclusion today's scientists come to.

Waiting for someone to dig up a denier study from 1912...

Oh yeah, the energy industry didn't control think tanks and politicians yet.

.
" Something bad's "gonna happen in the future.
Yeah ,about the same as now.
Can't get any more scientific and accurate than that!!!
LAFFRIOT!!

It didn't take a genius to create closed experiments with CO2 to witness the effects that solar radiation would have on increased temperatures.

CO2 is a greenhouse gas, and it should increase temperatures.
It's a matter of whether it actually does or not and will any
warming result in a catastrophic disaster? We are thirty years
into this question and the warming isn't much and the weather
seems to be milder. Winters are warmer and summers are cooler.
There's more precipitation and the planet is greening up due in
no small way to increased CO2.

As I have said many times, the AGW hypothesis is excellent 19th century science. Thank you for providing supporting evidence. I prefer the 21st century science that supersedes AGW.

So, on slow news days back then they ran the "we are all doomed" due to man's activity meam but it did not catch on as the first world war gave everybody a new sense of proportion.

Also note the weather of 1911 was blamed on global warming. No change there.
