I suspect that may be because it feels good, and they have not seen the price tag yet.
Why should we support this?
China and India Will Continue to Increase Oil and Coal Consumption, Paris Agreement Notwithstanding - IER
It isn't going to do anything when the 2 nations with the largest population will continue to be the biggest polluters. Want to solve the problem? Make green energy cost effective so these people actually use it.
A majority of Americans supported going into Iraq too. Once upon a time a majority of Americans opposed the Brown v Board decision.
What's right is right and what's wrong is wrong. The Paris Accord is stupid and just like the unnecessary war in Iraq, the more people know about it, the more it stinks.
China has 4 times more people than the USA does. Are we suppose to subsidize them with our tax dollars?
If not, what is your solution? Just how do we make green energy cost effective?
In my experience the majority of Americans believe what their government tells them to. Things like Vietnam, Watergate and more recently Iraq haven't really changed that sadly
That's funny coming from someone in the U.K.

Invest. Actually research and FIND cost effective methods. It doesn't have to be done by the government. Private industry. My response is mainly aimed at the "green" movement. Which has mainly been the "redistribution of pollution" movement. These nations will NOT stop using the cheap and cost effective methods of production until it is no longer cost effective. That won't happen till other methods are found. That's just realism.
I mean the only other option in these nations is to reduce their population by a BILLION.
No doubt, China can improve their impact on the planet, as can the US. The US has 3x the per capita CO2 emissions as China. That's why there is this accord. Climate Change is a global problem that requires a global solution.
You missed my point.
What happens when China has the same CO2 emissions per capita? Any subsidies we help with become unmanageable due to the number of users being subsidized.
From a budgetary standpoint, the excess paid by more developed nations is relatively low. $2-3 Billion sounds like a lot. But when the US spends $6 Trillion on the Iraqi war, it's a drop in the proverbial bucket. Not only that, but the Paris Accord is a way to unite the world, not divide it, like wars. The camaraderie and unity in mission towards a common goal can be the battle - instead of wars! Climate change is a common enemy to all nations.
LOL...
I wish such ideals were actually true.

[h=1]Alarmists still aren’t convincing – more Americans believe ‘paranormal’ more than fear global warming[/h]Nearly three-fourths of Americans do believe in something paranormal. 48 percent fear “global warming”. What do Americans fear most? Chapman University releases 4th annual Survey of American Fears Chapman University recently completed its fourth annual Chapman University Survey of American Fears (2017). I guess it depends of what you claim "paranormal" is.
Myself, I have no doubt that we are spiritual beings. I have no claim to any particular religion, I simply know, without doubt, that we are spiritual beings.
That said, this doesn't surprise me as most people, religious or not, have has a spiritual experience.
