There are many problems we face today relating to the environment: climate change, clean and/or renewable energy, deforestation. All of these horrible things are happening for one reason. We as a species have zero control over our surroundings nor do we show any desire to do so, in order to advance as a species we need to make great strides in focusing on weather influencing technologies whether by government or business.

Good Morning! and welcome to DP.
People tend to vote with their wallets.
They will choose what ever fills their need and costs the least naturally.
I say naturally because unnatural price adjustments by taxation only affects the limited reach of the taxing authority.
I think the cost curves are already in motion for a replacement of fossil fuels, with man made hydrocarbon fuels.
Organic oil will continue to increase in price, as the supply of cheap easy oil is exhausted.
Several research paths by the Naval research labs, Audi/sunfire, and Fraunhofer university,
are in the last stages of technological development, of synthetic fuels made from electricity,
water and CO2 from the active environment.
The resulting fuel is a form of energy storage, that is carbon neutral.
This means that as Solar and wind increase, the surplus can be stored as fuels compatible
with existing vehicles, and other demands.

Welcome. I, for one, am a bit of a hardhead on this issue. Man continually adjusts Nature to economically profit. This has us in our current dilemna. Global Warming, Climate change, huge waste damage and threats, Ocean dead zones, brown clouds around cities, distortion of reality, species extinction, etc. The solution is to live symbiotically with Nature, not attempting to adjust to our profit strategy. Big Money doesn't worry about such matters, because they figure they can build a bubble and be OK. They may be right. Politicians are rented, ergo they will not solve this problem for the mini-money 99%.

I found this interesting video just a minute ago...take a gander:

Kind of puts things into better perspective, IMO.

Welcome to DP.

You will find that this area of debate is very strongly science based. That is it helps a lot if you know what you are talking about before making claims as you will be challenged to support such claims with some sort of evidence.

Welcome to the bear pit.

Yes, please don't make unsupported claims based on the news, and other punditry.
