Nothing really new there. As the Arctic warms, the thawing Tundra releases stored methane. It's been happening for a while.

Methane is the byproduct of decomposition of organic matter.

And the methane now being released was trapped 10's of 1000's of years ago in "permafrost" that is now melting due to AGW creating even more warming as predicted by models.

What fact are you going by, or is that a hypothesis?

The earth has been getting warmer ever since the last ice age. This planet has spent the majority of its existence as a steamy hot tropical world.

Because of high CO2 levels in the atmosphere caused by volcanoes. Humans on the other hand have existed in a very different world for their entire existence. Doesn't that worry you just a little bit? Or are you not a human?

Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but you don't actually get anywhere.

LOL Some us believe we need to do something about it while you blissfully rock in your chair. We need to conserve and eventually phase out fossil fuels as soon as possible. Burning it all is not an option.

I think this is a finger pointing at fracking. Methane is like the worst of all greenhouse gases.

Could be an attempt, but methane from thawing permafrost has nothing to do with fracking.

Agreed, but there are far more methane hydrates in the ocean floor than the ice. And I still think the OP is aiming at something besides Climate Change.

Fossil fuels are fossilized sunlight. You can't see the Forrest for the trees. You're so focused on carbon dioxide, because people have told you that THATS the problem, that you can't even see the real issues. Again, are you aware that we exist in an environmental anomaly In the planets history? There was once much more carbon in earths atmosphere too.

Even if we stopped so much as burning firewood, nothing is going to change earths natural state.

Meanwhile, I can't eat fish from local lakes and rivers due to actual, real pollution, but I don't hear a peep out of you so called anti pollution folks about that.

Why, I wonder?

Maybe it is because the EPA budget has and is being systematically gutted?
By the way, fossil fuel are hydrocarbons which were made by plants by removing CO2 from the atmosphere thru photosynthesis. Sunlight merely provided the energy for the reaction. This process took millions of years but it did certainly change Earth's climate. Releasing it all back into the atmosphere will certainly change it too.

Why is methane the worst of all greenhouse gases?
