Trump and the GOP have gotten their way and the XL Pipeline will be completed. It will be using very toxic materials that enables the tar sands oil to be pushed through the pipeline. Not only are the materials toxic, but they are so caustic that will eventually destroy the pipes they are flowing through. If a leak occrurs it will filter through to the ground water and for a large area the water will be unusable. Since the pipeline has already had leaks, who do you think should be held responsible for any future leaks and who will pay the cost of any damage that happens due to the leak? Want to be it will be the American public?

Is this the first pipeline ever laid in this country?

As always, the pipeline company will be liable for any harm done if any leaks cause problems.

You might not have noticed, but there are a crap-ton of pipelines in this country. Several run though my area. No major problems in longer than I can recall.

It is not like this is the first pipeline for the USA.

US pipeline map. Pipeline101 - Where-Are-Pipelines-Located
"The United States has the largest network of energy pipelines in the world, with more than 2.4 million miles of pipe.
The network of crude oil pipelines in the U.S. is extensive. There are approximately 72,000 miles of crude oil lines in the U.S. that connect regional markets."

I remember when the Alaska pipeline was built and how it was going to be a natural disaster. Yes, it has had some leaks and spills. Yet, the Armageddon many predicted has not happened in 34 years.

What does the contract state regarding who is to manage and maintain the XL pipeline? Hasn't TransCanada state they will be responsible?

So I take it your against the pipeline. Are you against all the other pipelines in the US?

The pipeline operator will be liable.

It's all Obama's fault! Duh!?!?

Economically? The pipeline operator. Politically? Trump.

Greetings, Jack. :2wave:

Wow! It will be interesting to see how this lawsuit turns out, although I wonder if I'll live long enough to see the result, since I well remember the years of delays and postponements Mann used in the lawsuits filed against him!

This one may not be treated the same, though, since it involves companies suffering losses to their bottom lines in the amount of "hundreds of millions of dollars," due to lies and other fraudulent behavior, including deliberate sabotage of the pipelines, and threats to the lives of those in management at the companies being harassed. We shall see, but again... WOW!

What you may be missing is that the XL pipeline in question is the second one,
and is necessary to increase flow. I believe the first has been operating for over a decade.

Both the designers and the contractors building it.
